Huff! Isla sprang forward, flying out of the cave. A faint electrical crackle came through the earplugs in his ears, and the signal to Old Buck quickly connected.
"Thank goodness, the satellite signal suddenly cut out." Old Buck's voice came through the earpiece. "Are you all right, Isla?!"
"Where's Teacher? Where is he now? I need to see him!" Isla asked urgently.
"The chief is opening up a route toward the main passage. You can contact him whenever you want. Why are you looking for him?"
"I have something urgent to discuss with him." Isla paused, and his expression shifted. "Forget it. I—"
"You're connected!"
Old Buck's voice abruptly cut off.
"Hello? What is it? Did something happen over there, Isla? I've got too much stuff on my side, so hurry up if you've got something to say!" Lu Sheng's voice came through the earpiece.
Isla fell silent for a moment.
"Teacher, something may have come up. I need to travel far away."
"Travel far away? Where to? Finish your assignment before you leave." Lu Sheng sounded impatient. "Every disciple of the Ten Hearts Illusion Devil Fist has to serve their teacher for ten years before they can leave! Didn't you know that rule?"
The corner of Isla's mouth twitched. "There doesn't seem to be such a rule among the fourteen sect rules, does there?"
"I forgot to add it." More clattering sounds came from Lu Sheng's end, as though he were loading something.
"Teacher, I may have provoked some enemies recently. They might drag you into this, so I have no choice but to leave and avoid disaster," Isla said, changing his approach.
"Enemies?"
As Lu Sheng slowed down, he looked at the two gray-robed figures slowly appearing on the road ahead. Their faces could not be seen.
"Let's
