Lu Sheng set a cup of water on the table, followed by a pile of food: dry bread and cheese bought from the convenience store downstairs, along with some chocolate. He had never heard of any of the brands. Everything was wrapped in the convenience store's distinctive gray paper packaging, and together, they were extremely high in calories.

Since he intended to truly break through into a qualitative transformation, he naturally had to make thorough preparations.

Lu Sheng took off his shirt and examined himself in the mirror. His build was much stronger than Jack's had been before, but it was still far from its limit.

Beep, beep.

The frenzied shriek of car horns came from outside.

Lu Sheng walked over and pulled back the curtain for a look. All of London was shrouded in a layer of gray-black fog. Through the mist, he could see that two cars downstairs seemed to have scraped each other, their drivers viciously leaning on their horns at one another.

There were occasionally people standing by the roadside to watch, but most wore hurried, numb expressions as they strode away.

"Ah!" A woman's scream suddenly rang out from the dark city in the distance.

Such sounds were common. In London after nightfall, they could often be heard.

"Either some vagrant scared a passerby, or someone met with an accident on the road—or perhaps they were simply being raped."

Lu Sheng remained calm. Such things would quickly appear in the next day's papers. London in this world was far too chaotic. "All right. Time to begin."

Knock, knock, knock.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

"Jack, a letter from home."

It was the postman from near the police station.

"Thanks." Lu Sheng walked over, opened the door, and accepted two letters from the postman.
