Breakthrough II

Leaving the reading room, Lu Sheng stood in the empty corridor and followed the way back. When he reached the stairwell and was about to head down—

His gaze suddenly swept over a bronze plaque outside one of the reading rooms.

'Foreign Language Reference Room.'

"Hey, Jack."

Lu Sheng paused slightly and turned toward the corridor in the other direction. Dong Li, the freshman lecture instructor and chief military-training instructor, was slowly approaching with a woman in a red dress, carrying a book with a brown cover.

"You've only been enrolled for a month, but I've already heard plenty of students and teachers mention you. What was that nickname again? Library Maniac?" Dong Li teased with a smile. No instructor would begrudge warmth and smiles to a diligent, studious student who ranked among the best of those they taught.

"Greetings, Teachers." Lu Sheng nodded slightly in respect.

"You're planning to head back?" Dong Li asked casually.

She wore a fitted black midriff-baring shirt. Her outrageously long legs were wrapped in gleaming black leather pants, and a short-handled holster seemed to be tucked into the small of her back.

"Yes. I couldn't find the materials I needed. There was too much repeated content." Lu Sheng nodded.

"Oh? You couldn't find them?" Dong Li raised a brow. "If you really can't find them, you could try the literature sections for other languages, or come back at night." A dangerous smile curled across her lips.

"Don't tempt the student, Dong Li." The woman in red frowned slightly and cut her off. "The library at night is not a place first-year freshmen should be exposed to."

"Fine, fine." Dong Li raised her hands in surrender.

"It's time to go back." The woman in red spoke blandly, her gaze settling on Lu Sheng before her.
