First, as one of Loen's top intelligence officers, he knew more or less how fierce the battle in Feneport City had been. According to some clues Chunas had obtained, Hobart should have played an extremely important role in that battle.
Second, Chunas had noticed that Georgina's attitude toward Hobart was rather intriguing. Georgina was a powerful figure within the Royal Family and one of Loen's foremost nobles.
Therefore, without exception, noble children sent to Military Intelligence Section 9 for training had to begin as Level One clerks.
(There were five levels of clerks in Loen's government departments. Level Five was a senior clerk, also known as a high-ranking clerk or chief clerk, roughly equivalent to a captain-level post.) Yet Hobart had arrived as a deputy director. Such an arrangement was not unprecedented, but during Chunas's time in Military Intelligence Section 9, he had indeed never encountered anything similar.
As for that beautiful woman in uniform, Georgina had personally arranged for her to serve as his secretary.
Although there was an element of surveillance involved, this was enough to show how highly Georgina—and even the entire Royal Family—regarded Hobart.
Hobart smiled. "Hello, Director Chunas."
"Just call me Chunas." The other man was very easygoing. "My office is right next to yours. If you need anything, come find me."
"All right. I'll be relying on your guidance from now on."
At their first meeting, the two exchanged a few polite words before returning to their respective offices.
