Bloodline Curse
"The Fool" Klein forced a bitter smile. I really didn't know. But perhaps it's better that I didn't. This is a mysterious and unfathomable world, after all. Simply discussing certain people or certain matters might indeed bring disaster. "Emperor" knew quite a bit of secret knowledge. Bringing him in had been the right choice.
"Justice" Audrey: How terrifying, how terrifying. Is this the Beyonder World? Simply talking about some people can bring disaster?
"Hanged Man" Alger: The Beyonder knowledge "Emperor" possessed seemed quite advanced. Fortunately, I hadn't shown him any disdain before.
Hobart continued, "Later, during the Four Emperors Era, the Antigonus Family became a great family because they supported the Blood Emperor's rule. But after the Blood Emperor fell, Antigonus was hunted by the gods and suffered Loss of Control for certain reasons. The kingdom he established was destroyed as well.
"There were also rumors that Antigonus was still sleeping within the Palace of Hornacis, but no one had any way to verify them.
"After that, there was no further news of the Antigonus Family. Even if their descendants escaped the gods' pursuit, they were likely only collateral branches, utterly incapable of restoring their former glory."
The other three fell silent to varying degrees. The phrase "hunted by the gods" had shocked them deeply. Though they all believed in the gods' existence, hearing of the gods' deeds still made them want to cover their ears.
Klein also noticed that Hobart had said, "Antigonus was hunted by the gods," rather than that the Antigonus Family had been hunted. Could the person who founded the Antigonus Family have been the same person hunted by the gods?
As for the possibility that Antigonus was still sleeping in the Palace of Hornacis, it was extremely valuable information to Klein. It almost explained the source of the whispers he had heard when he became a Beyonder.
Seeing everyone fall silent, Hobart felt somewhat helpless. He had already spoken very carefully. Not only had he not explicitly mentioned Adam and Amon, the two Kings of Angels, but he had also not said that Antigonus was a descendant of an ancient god and the Goddess of the Night's "little brother."
He had not expected that even the information he had filtered would still shock everyone so greatly.
"Hanged Man" had even begun to suspect that "Emperor," like Mr. Fool, might be some evil god in the process of awakening. Otherwise, how could he know so much secret information? With the intention of giving it a try, he asked, "Mr. Emperor, aside from the Church of Storms, where else can one obtain the Potion Recipe for 'Storm Blessed'? What compensation should I offer for the relevant information?"
"I haven't decided on the exact compensation yet. Owe me for now. When I need something, I'll collect it from you." Hobart had no intention of giving "Hanged Man" a welcome gift.
"As for the value of my information, you may ask Mr. Fool to bear witness."
"Hanged Man" was taken aback. He had not expected "Emperor" to truly know another way to obtain Potions from the Sailor pathway. "No problem!"
Hobart asked, "Have you heard of the Elven Race?"
"I have," Hanged Man said. "But that is a race that was wiped out a very long time ago."
"Yes, the Elven Race no longer exists." Hobart said, "But do not underestimate ancient Mythical Creatures. Some of their powerful members might still be able to preserve their consciousness through certain Extraordinary Items.
"Of course, I do not recommend that you seek such Extraordinary Items, because it would be very dangerous.
"I believe you should know that the Beyonder pathway mastered by the Elven Race was the same as yours.
"Additionally, as far as I know, there are many Elven Race ruins at sea. I believe you should be able to find what you seek there."
"Hanged Man" fell silent. Hobart had indeed provided him with a completely new and viable line of thought.
"The Fool" also sank into thought. He realized that many secret Beyonder incidents had occurred during the distant Second Epoch and Third Epoch, and that the current era was still affected by those Beyonder incidents.
"Justice," meanwhile, could barely suppress her curiosity. She wanted to learn about ancient Mythical Creatures, but Hobart had just given her a "welcome gift," so she felt embarrassed to keep asking.
More than ten seconds later, "Hanged Man" finally said, "Thank you for your answer. I will give you equivalent compensation in the future."
Next came the exchange of information. Hobart sat on the chair in silence until "The Fool" declared the gathering over.
Back in reality, Hobart recalled the gathering just now. "Klein" had provided him with an excellent idea.
He suddenly realized that as long as he stayed close to the protagonist whenever possible, there would surely be benefits. After all, the man had plot armor.
Usually, after classes ended in the afternoon, Hobart would play cricket with his classmates for an hour or two, or practice fencing with them. When it was hot, they would also go swimming.
More than once, Hobart had sighed that in an era without the internet, university students had much healthier ways of spending their free time.
But today, because of his mother's instructions, Hobart took a Rental Carriage home after school.
When he had first transmigrated, acting on the principle that every bit saved counted, Hobart had taken public carriages home for several days in a row. After all, they cost only 6 Pence, while a Rental Carriage cost between 2 Sule and 3 Sule, depending on the carriage's grade.
However, after his adoptive mother learned of this, she sternly reprimanded Hobart. His actions might make the neighbors or his classmates think that the Jeffrey family was going bankrupt, or make others think that the Jeffreys were being excessively harsh toward their adopted son.
Hobart could only conform to this world's values and bury his ideas of thrift deep in his heart.
The moment he entered the courtyard gate, the Butler took Hobart's schoolbag and said, "Young Master Hobart, Master asks that you come to the Study for a talk."
"Alright." Hobart came to the Study door with the Butler. The Butler knocked first and announced him.
After receiving permission from his adoptive father, Christine, Hobart opened the door and first saw his adoptive father seated behind the desk.
Christine looked only a little over thirty. He had no beard, and even though he was smiling, his entire body still exuded an intense sense of authority.
Before Hobart transmigrated, there had already been some distance between him and his adoptive parents. After transmigrating, that distance had become even greater. Hobart had always called them Father and Mother, unlike Donna and Tyrone, who called them Dad and Mom.
Christine pointed to the chair opposite the desk. "Sit."
Hobart felt very willing to obey his adoptive father's command. This was also why he believed his adoptive father was a Beyonder.
Christine asked, "I heard that you've recently been absent-minded, suffering from insomnia, and occasionally revealing some mad expressions without noticing?"
Hobart froze. "I've already tried hard to conceal the madness in my heart."
"Some things cannot be hidden just because you want to hide them." Christine sighed. "We haven't discussed your biological father in a long time, have we?"
"Yes." Hobart had not expected his adoptive father to bring up his biological parents on his own. That saved him the trouble of finding an opening to ask.
Christine said, "There is a Curse within your family's bloodline!"
