Background / History
Shrek Academy possessed a history of approximately twenty thousand years and was known for producing generations of elite Soul Masters and Shrek Seven Monsters. Its Inner Courtyard, Outer Courtyard, Sea God Pavilion, and the Golden Ancient Tree formed the core of its legacy and influence 97 102 112.
The academy maintained autonomy from the Sun Moon Federation. Successive Federal Parliament members sought to bring it under state control, but Shrek’s concentration of powerful Soul Masters and its refusal to openly expand forced the Federation to tolerate its independence 90. This autonomy fostered resentment among radical Federal Councilors, the Spirit Pagoda, and the Holy Spirit Cult 35 36.
Although Shrek publicly presented itself as a supporter of peace between humans and Soul Beasts, its role as a center for Soul Masters created immense demand for Soul Rings and Soul Bones. During the Sea Soul Beast incident, the academy was criticized for provoking the attack and refusing to accept responsibility 93 97 98.

Academy Culture
- The academy selected and trained exceptional young Soul Masters, including candidates for the next generation of Shrek Seven Monsters 89 97.
- Its students wore traditional grass-green uniforms 90 103.
- Cai Yue’er taught that students who did not dare to cause trouble were “mediocrities,” using provocation and unexpected conflict as training methods 90.
- Shrek’s identity was strongly tied to its historical glory, especially the duty of each generation of Shrek Seven Monsters to protect the academy’s name 97.
- The academy’s former policy included treating the killing of Evil Soul Masters as a graduation assignment, earning it deep hostility from the Holy Spirit Cult 35.
Golden Eyed Black Dragon King Mural
A massive mural of the Golden Eyed Black Dragon King stood in the freshman assessment area. Created from a drop of dragon blood left during a beast tide, its Dragon Might was used to test newly admitted students’ Spiritual Power 103.
- The mural depicted a black dragon with golden eyes, spread wings, visible scales, and oppressive Dragon Might 103.
- Di Tian secretly controlled the mural through his will after Yuanen Yehui used her blood to activate it 103.
- For three years, Di Tian used the mural’s established presence as camouflage while it continued selecting new batches of Heaven’s Chosen and young heroes for the academy 104.
- Di Tian used the infiltration to prepare for the destruction of the underground shelter and to seize the Seed of Life 103.
Major Arcs
Star Luo Exchange Activities
Shrek Academy dispatched Tang Wulin, Gu Yue, and eight other outstanding students to the Star Luo Continent for an exchange with Monster Academy. Cai Yue’er led the delegation, while Wu Zhangkong accompanied it as teacher 89.
During the voyage, Cai Yue’er openly insulted Star Luo Royal Academy and deliberately encouraged confrontations to harden her students 90. The group later became involved in a Sea Soul Beast attack after Tang Wulin’s party captured Sea Soul Beasts, bringing widespread casualties and accusations against Shrek 93 97.
Zhuo Shi rallied the students by invoking Shrek’s past, convincing them to continue their exchange duties despite the disaster 97.
Bombing of Shrek Academy
The Holy Spirit Cult, aided by factions hostile to Shrek Academy, acquired two Level 12 Fixed Soul Cannon Shells and prepared an assault timed around the Sea God’s Fate Blind Date Event 27 104 112.
Ghost Emperor led the attack out of revenge against Yun Ming. The two shells overwhelmed Shrek’s defenses despite Yun Ming burning his Flame of Life and exhausting the Golden Ancient Tree’s accumulated energy to suppress much of their destructive force 111 112.
- Shrek Academy, the Tang Sect Headquarters, and central Shrek City were devastated 112 118.
- Yun Ming died during the defense 112.
- The Holy Spirit Cult expended twenty Soul Douluo-level Evil Soul Masters and several hundred mid-tier Evil Soul Masters to activate the weapons 118.
- The cult followed the bombardment with a Level 9 Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon Shell as a cleanup strike 118.
- Survivors, including Ya Li and several students, fled Shrek City after the attack 117.
Destruction of the Shelter and Loss of the Seed of Life
The underground shelter beneath Sea God Lake initially protected more than two hundred students and teachers, including promising talents such as Wu Zhangkong and Wu Siduo 112.
Di Tian then entered the shelter in his Golden Eyed Black Dragon King form. His dragon roar and direct assault killed the remaining defenders, including Wu Zhangkong 113. He subsequently took the Seed of Life left behind by the Golden Ancient Tree 103 114.
Reconstruction Efforts
The surviving Shrek Seven Monsters resolved to rebuild Shrek Academy, revitalize the Tang Sect, and oppose Di Tian 175 185. Major families and factions with historical ties to Shrek and the Tang Sect offered support, including the Northern Sea Legion, the Yun, Jiang, and Long Families, and several reclusive sects 185.
Rebuilding at the original Shrek City site was abandoned because of severe destruction, lingering God-Slaying Destruction Power, and the expansion of the Star Dou Great Forest over the city 186. Eastsea Academy was selected as the reconstruction site instead 185 194.
The reconstruction suffered another catastrophe when Scarlet King led a beast tide against Eastsea Academy during its opening ceremony, killing newly recruited Shrek students described as the academy’s future “Core Flames” 198. By a later point, the soul beast clan had uprooted the alliance forces rebuilding Shrek Academy in the Sun Moon Federation 203.
