After leaving the Star Dou Great Forest, Gu Yue's followers used long-established connections to present her talent to the Spirit Pagoda. She became the personal disciple of Deputy Pagoda Master Leng Yaozhu, while her accompanying soul beasts posed as family elders and acquired guest-elder positions to investigate the organization. Gu Yue then traveled to Eastsea City, intending to approach Tang Wulin while restoring her strength and fulfilling a wager with Na'er. 29

As Gu Yue, she developed feelings for Tang Wulin that conflicted with her mission. Na'er confronted her over their wager: Gu Yue had expected Tang Wulin to abandon Na'er, proving human emotion false, but could neither sever those feelings nor kill him. Na'er, who desired coexistence between humans and soul beasts, ultimately fused with Gu Yue. The unified being took the complete name Gu Yuena. 109

Following Shrek Academy's destruction, Gu Yuena sensed the God-Slaying Power and temporarily restrained herself with silver chains designed to hinder her own Spiritual Power. Once the chains failed, she broke free and rushed toward the ruins to determine Tang Wulin's fate. 116
