Knowing she was the weakest, Pekala hurriedly spoke up and raised her hand to show off the several Rings on her right hand.
"All right."
Hearing their choice, Claire gave a slight nod.
She had already given them the necessary warning. Even if something truly happened next, she would not feel overly uneasy.
She relit the Brass Lantern and made it float before her. Then, she took out another identical lantern, lit it, and handed it to Anvis.
"Use this for illumination. In a corridor like this, the broad lighting range of Candlelight could bring us trouble."
"Of course."
Anvis readily extinguished the light orb and casually cast Dark Vision on himself.
Then, the three-person party continued deeper in.
Claire still took the lead. Since Pekala was the weakest, Anvis chose to walk at the rear, leaving her in the relatively safe position in the middle.
This rather gentlemanly gesture earned him a grateful smile from the Girl and an extra glance from Claire.
The dark corridor stretched on endlessly, with frequent winding turns. The walls on both sides were made of sturdy gray rock, and the passage rose and fell slightly.
The three carefully explored ahead, but aside from a Blind Snake that had slipped in through a crack in the wall, there were no other mechanisms or traps in the corridor.
This proved something from another angle: this corridor was likely some kind of emergency passage.
"Judging by the direction, this corridor seems to lead toward the city's noble district."
Perhaps feeling that the atmosphere had grown too quiet, Pekala took the initiative to speak as they walked.
