Old Days Secret Scripture Unlocks "To leave behind such a spell model, just what realm had the being who wrote the Old Days Secret Scripture reached?"

His fingertips gently stroked the cover of the Old Days Secret Scripture hanging at his waist. For some reason, after the initial period of discomfort, he had instead begun to like the cover's unique texture.

Right, now that he had broken through to the First Rank, he should be able to unlock some new content.

His fingers paused slightly, and Anvis simply sat down cross-legged on the ground. He removed the Old Days Secret Scripture from his waist, held it in his hands, and extended a thread of Spiritual Power to connect with it.

The familiar change occurred once more, but Anvis paid no attention to his surroundings. He could sense that a portion of the true contents had opened itself to him! Beyond that strange title page, about half a book's worth of contents still remained firmly "stuck together." Judging by their thickness, they seemed to be precisely the main body of the poem from before it had been unsealed.

Flipping past those sections that he could not read for the time being, the first thing Anvis saw was another strange Symbol, different in Shape from the one on the title page but likewise filling the entire page.

Unlike the title page, this page did not draw him in. In fact, if he stared at the Symbol for even a little too long, he began to feel dizzy.

He checked his Sea of Spirit and found no changes. Shaking his head, he turned the page.

There were two more pages he could read, and their contents were still the same abstract landscape Paintings as before.

But as Anvis gazed at them, the lines in those landscape Paintings began to squirm slowly like living things, then automatically assembled themselves into entirely new content within his Sea of Spirit.

The writing that recorded this content differed from the main text. It was a terrifying, twisted script brimming with power, exuding an incomparably ancient aura.

Anvis did not know what civilization's language this was. He had never encountered it in any of his lives.

Yet the moment he saw it, he instinctively understood its meaning.

They were two spells:

Twisting Touch and Flesh Manipulation.

Twisting Touch summoned a pitch-black Tentacle formed from Mana, binding the enemy tightly. Enemies touched by the Tentacle would hear strange whispers in their minds.

This would diminish the enemy's rationality and inflict severe mental interference. Enemies with weaker willpower would become unable to cast spells.

The longer an enemy remained in contact with the Tentacle, the louder the whispers in their heart would grow. Even after separating from the Tentacle, the effect would not immediately vanish, but would slowly fade just as it had appeared.

Flesh Manipulation could control the target's flesh and blood. However, the target had to be touched by its wielder, and had to be of a lower rank than the Spellcaster or completely unable to resist.

The Spellcaster could choose either a gentle alteration or a destructive, warped mutation.

Moreover, this spell could be used on oneself.

Anvis instantly understood the nature of these two spells. He could cast them by instinct, but there were no models within his Sea of Spirit, nor were there any casting gestures or incantations.

No model, no incantations or gestures. Rather than spells, they're more like Spell-like Abilities, similar to bloodline talents.

As he thought this, a strange notion suddenly surfaced in Anvis's mind.

No, perhaps there are incantations and gestures, but they are likely impossible to perform with a human body...

Dispelling the thought, he casually cast Twisting Touch. A pitch-black Tentacle as thick as his wrist burrowed out of the ground from thin air and squirmed faintly in the air.

Examining the Tentacle carefully, Anvis tried to control it to coil around a stone. The Tentacle accomplished this with ease.

Then, he tried having it coil around increasingly heavier objects. Only when he finally tested it on the cage containing the Luo Luo Beasts did the Tentacle show slight signs of strain.

He also tried touching the Tentacle. A faint sound rang out in his mind, very similar to the whispers he had heard when first flipping through the Old Days Secret Scripture, but it caused Anvis no adverse effects.

"Its strength is probably equivalent to a peak First Rank warrior. I just don't know what effect these whispers will have on other creatures."

As he thought this, Anvis's gaze once again fell upon those Luo Luo Beasts.

"You, then—"

"Snort!"

He pulled out another Luo Luo Beast. Yes, it was still the one with white stripes—Anvis thought it looked more pleasing to the eye.

The Luo Luo Beast was once again placed on the ground by Mage Hand, then firmly bound in place by a binding Magic Array. It listlessly turned its head from side to side and flicked its plump tail.

Then, a slick black Tentacle suddenly burrowed out beside it and fiercely wrapped around its thigh.

"Snort—snort!"

Startled, the Luo Luo Beast immediately tried to break free. But because of the binding Magic Array, it could only passively endure the Tentacle's constriction.

As time passed, the Luo Luo Beast visibly grew more agitated, struggling nonstop with its entire body.

"So the effect is similar to Berserk, or perhaps mental confusion?"

Canceling Twisting Touch, Anvis pointed his Staff at the Luo Luo Beast's forehead and cast a sleep spell.

A ripple of Magic flashed and vanished. The Luo Luo Beast immediately collapsed to the ground in a daze, snoring away with drool spilling from the corner of its mouth.

Seeing that the Luo Luo Beast had fallen asleep, Anvis pressed his hand onto the white stripe on its back and activated Flesh Manipulation.

Visible to the naked eye, the skin on the Luo Luo Beast's back immediately began to squirm. The straight white stripe started to fold and curve, its ends joining together...

Until it finally became a heart Shape.

Anvis had chosen a gentle alteration. In his perception, Flesh Manipulation had not simply altered the surface skin, but completely changed the arrangement of the deeper flesh and blood.

Throughout the process, the Luo Luo Beast had not reacted at all. This indicated that such an alteration was likely painless, or at least not very painful.

The effects of a Low-Rank sleep spell were not particularly strong. If the pain had been too intense, the Luo Luo Beast under the sleep spell would likely have been startled awake.

More importantly, although these tissues had been shifted extensively, they seemed as though they had originally grown there, displaying no adverse reactions whatsoever!

Anvis was certain that once he ended Flesh Manipulation, the Magic effect had ended with it.

This proved one thing: the reason this flesh remained alive was not Mana, but because it could carry out nutrient circulation normally, just like any other ordinary flesh and blood tissue! While quite a few Spellcasters could achieve this degree of alteration, they were at least Sixth Rank Spellcasters and possessed profound knowledge of biological modification.

Yet a Spell-like Ability like this could allow a First Rank Mage who only half-understood biological modification to perform alterations of this level almost by instinct. Even Little Anvis from his previous life had never heard of such a thing.

To confirm the subsequent changes, Anvis ordered this Luo Luo Beast to be raised separately, intending to observe it for a while.
