Dream Ambush

When Anvis's avatar at Spark's secret base fell dormant, the massive Floating City, carrying the desperately struggling Pomona, passed through a special Dream Rift and slipped into the Inverted Layer at the bottom of the Deep Dream World.

This rift possessed a special mechanism: whenever an entity passed through it, its destination would randomly change. Anvis used it to delay the pursuers for a while.

After reaching the Inverted Layer, the Floating City swiftly arrived at a strange small dream realm according to the Dream Coordinates. Just as Pomona was about to break free, Anvis threw him into a stream of Dream Turbulence.

Time flowed differently within this kind of Deep Dream World turbulence. Even if a ninth-rank being were swept inside by accident and escaped at top speed, several days might already have passed outside.

The dream world Anvis had chosen was not large, covering only several thousand square kilometers, but everything within it was inverted. The earth lay above, while the sky stretched below.

A gray-white "sun" illuminated the rocks, trees, and other objects upon the inverted land. Everything displayed a peculiar black-and-white hue, like a faded monochrome photograph.

The Floating City that had "intruded" into this world, along with Anvis's avatar, could not escape this strange rule either. Their colors instantly became black and white.

At the same time, the omnipresent bizarre force in the Deep Dream World that gradually assimilated and bewildered Professionals suddenly vanished within this world. It was like some kind of refuge, making one instinctively want to lower one's guard.

The Deep Dream World was somewhat like the ocean. The deeper one descended, the greater the environmental "pressure" became. The power of dreams would in turn erode non-dream entities until they were completely assimilated and left in the dream forever.
