At that moment, Draco Malfoy stood before Snape in the Slytherin Head's office, his face dark with frustration. Ever since taking Snape's advice, he had been trying to repair the damaged Vanishing Cabinet according to the method Borgin and Burkes had given him. Yet after all this time, he had made no progress whatsoever.
That damned Vanishing Cabinet still looked exactly the same. He suspected it simply could not be repaired by someone like him.
"If the Vanishing Cabinet were so easy to repair, the credit would not have fallen to you. If you want the Dark Lord's recognition, you must pay a price. Only then will the Dark Lord agree to break Lucius out of prison." Snape's tone was exceptionally calm. He did not take Malfoy's complaints seriously in the slightest.
"What if it can't be fixed? I mean, what if I can't repair that damned Vanishing Cabinet before the end of this term?" Malfoy felt inexplicably irritated. "It's hard enough just getting into the Room of Requirement to work on it now. Maybe you should move that damned cabinet into your office instead of leaving it in the Room of Requirement. People are always using the place. I have to crawl out of bed in the middle of the night just to repair that damned thing."
It was not that Draco wanted to complain to Snape. He simply felt that repairing the Vanishing Cabinet was a complete trap.
If Snape truly wanted to help him, he should have helped think of a way to repair the damned cabinet. Instead, Snape had dumped the problem on him, making Malfoy suspect that Snape did not know how to fix it himself.
