"What happened?"
Hearing hurried footsteps in the corridor, Harry, who had been discussing the next steps in finding the Horcruxes with Hermione and Ron in the bedroom, opened the door and poked his head out, asking Sirius, who had just passed by.
"Kingsley just sent word that a group of Death Eaters broke into Burbage's home and forcibly took her away."
Sirius did not feel particularly strongly about Burbage being captured. He had heard other Order of the Phoenix members talk about her situation and was simply curious that, even after Albert had warned her, she had not left the country to seek refuge.
If it had been him, he might not have chosen to hide either, but that did not stop Sirius from thinking that the Muggle professor named Burbage had brought this entirely upon herself by getting captured.
Who told her not to listen to advice? Since it had been her own choice, she had to see it through, even if it meant tears.
If she lost her life, there was nothing to be done about it.
"Professor Burbage didn't leave Britain?" Hermione was equally shocked.
Albert had specifically warned Professor Burbage back then. The three of them had been there when it happened, yet Professor Burbage had not taken Albert's warning seriously?
Didn't she know Albert was a Prophecy Master? That couldn't be right!
"No, she didn't leave the country. She stayed in Britain, though she seems to have moved somewhere else."
Tonks, who had hurried back to headquarters, gave a helpless, bitter smile. "Burbage did take some of it to heart, but..."
"Are you all right?" Sirius asked.
"I'm fine."
Tonks looked somewhat despondent. Ever since marrying Remus, the repercussions had begun to show, and her position at the Ministry of Magic had become increasingly awkward.
