The brief gathering soon came to an end. After the other Death Eaters had left, Yaxley kept Snape behind to discuss the matter they had just raised.
"You don't think this is a good idea?"
He personally poured Snape a glass of red wine.
"The black market dealings have caused quite a lot of trouble lately. I think we should cut our losses in time." Snape politely accepted the wine, but he did not seem to intend to drink it.
"I'd like to, but the Dark Lord does not like failures. I've already messed things up once before. I cannot fail again, or else..."
Yaxley truly did not want to become the next Lucius, so he had to resolve the black market problem before Voldemort returned.
"That may make things worse." Snape stared at the glass of red wine in his hand and said softly, "You should be wary of Albert Anderson."
"You think this is likely that Mudblood's scheme?" Yaxley raised an eyebrow slightly. He had indeed pinned the blame on that Mudblood, but that did not mean he truly believed Albert had anything to do with it.
"I don't know. But we had a fierce conflict with Dark wizards from abroad, and quite a few people died on both sides because of it. Don't you find that absurd?" Snape reminded him. He knew he could not persuade Yaxley, but he still gave the warning when the time was right.
"I don't know. Perhaps you're right, but... I have no other choice." Yaxley fixed his eyes on Snape's. "Severus, I hope you can help each other. There aren't many old partners still alive now."
"We've always done that, but you should know that aside from offering verbal support, there isn't much I can do to help you." Snape set
