Not long after Christmas had passed, something big happened in the European wizarding world again.

A third master wandmaker, as famous as Ollivander and Gregorovitch, was suddenly found dead in his home. The Dark Mark had appeared above his roof as well.

Not long afterward, several more wandmakers vanished without explanation, leaving the entire European wizarding world on edge and gripped by panic. The shadow named Voldemort once again loomed over the wizards of Europe. People feared that murderous madman, and worried even more that he might suddenly appear on their doorstep.

Wizards everywhere strongly demanded that their respective Ministries of Magic take action to stop Voldemort's reign of terror, but their pleas received no response. Voldemort was simply too dangerous. The tragic deaths of that group of Aurors were still fresh in everyone's minds. The upper ranks of the various Ministries feared that taking action would accomplish nothing and might even get more Aurors killed, so they chose to ignore the public outcry and turtle up to cut their losses.

In truth, Voldemort had not intended to make such a mess of things.

Those wandmakers had simply been too useless. Not one of them knew what the golden spell that had linked the two wands that night was about. Even the third master wandmaker, as famous as Ollivander and Gregorovitch, had failed to figure it out. Worse, the man had tried to casually make up an excuse to fob him off, so Voldemort, who had been in a bad mood at the time, sacrificed him on the spot.

His entire family went with him. Nice and tidy.

Unwilling to give up, Voldemort proceeded to capture quite a few more famous wandmakers.

Those who could not answer his questions all met their end before the enraged Dark Lord.
