"Tom Riddle. That was Lord Voldemort's original name. Of course, he later changed it." Albert told the sisters these little-known secrets as though he were telling a story.
"Tom Riddle was originally Lord Voldemort's father's name. However, Old Tom Riddle was a Muggle, and as the noble descendant of Slytherin, Lord Voldemort naturally couldn't accept sharing a name with a Muggle."
"So he gave himself a new name." Katrina found it quite astonishing. She had never expected there to be such a story behind it.
"Yes. Apparently, after Riddle learned about his origins while still at school, he found and killed the family of the father who had abandoned his mother, then conveniently made his uncle take the blame."
"You really do know everything." Isobel was somewhat surprised that Albert had investigated Lord Voldemort's secrets so thoroughly.
"It was part of Dumbledore's investigation before he died. He later told me these secrets." Albert directly shifted the blame onto Dumbledore, though Dumbledore really had investigated it, so it did not exactly count as shifting blame.
