Dean was disappointed when he learned that the Death Eaters had retreated. He had thought the Ministry of Magic could use this chance to wipe out another batch of Voldemort's remnants, but the enemy had been far too cautious.
"I really don't understand what those Death Eaters are trying to do. They're practically here as a joke." Seamus looked equally frustrated.
"What are they doing? Obviously, they came here specifically to disgust Harry." Neville glanced around and lowered his voice. "Haven't you noticed that the atmosphere at the wedding has changed?"
"It really is disgusting. I just didn't expect them to slip away in the end." Ernie sympathized with Harry. A perfectly good wedding had been turned into a mess by the Death Eaters.
"But the Aurors lying in wait outside didn't catch even one?" Justin could not help doubting the Aurors' actual competence.
"What are you thinking? Did you really expect the Aurors to catch those Death Eaters?" A somewhat unfamiliar voice came from the side.
"They really can't be relied on. Even with a warning, they still can't get anything done."
The other speaker was Nelson Tobin, who seemed to have expected this outcome all along.
"Albert was still the more thorough one. I heard he used Voldemort's bounty to build Avalon precisely to prevent Defence Association members from suffering retaliation from the Death Eaters. He probably foresaw long ago that the Ministry of Magic wouldn't be able to wipe out all of Voldemort's remnants." Hannah agreed with Albert's "foresight." Her mother had been murdered in retaliation by Death Eaters.
