"It didn't go well. That man was prepared."
The newcomer stood silently to the middle-aged wizard's right, watching him use a pre-mixed potion to stop the bleeding of a Muggle whose fingers had been bitten off by werewolves.
"Wasn't that expected?" After bandaging the Muggle's severed fingers and stopping the bleeding, the man shoved him back into the sturdy dungeon.
"If that pack of werewolves can't cause him enough trouble, that man will soon come looking for trouble with us." That was precisely what the newcomer had come to discuss. This time, they had directly stirred up a hornet's nest. Their opponent would not let the matter rest so easily.
"Of course he can do that, and he certainly will. But I believe next month's number of werewolves will make him lower that arrogant head of his and reconcile with us obediently."
The middle-aged wizard seemed to have anticipated that outcome long ago. "Before then, we need to prepare scapegoats to take the blame. And they must carry enough weight—at the very least, enough to let him save face."
"Will that man really let us off so easily?"
The newcomer naturally understood what the middle-aged wizard meant, but he still hesitated.
Could it really be that simple? "Voldemort is dead. His remnants will soon disappear with him." After bandaging the last Muggle, the middle-aged wizard said blandly, "We must make him understand that if he had not kept pressing us, things would never have developed into this."
In truth, everyone knew that the situation had changed. It was almost impossible to land safely as they had after the previous Wizarding War.
That was why this confrontation was necessary. Especially after Voldemort's death, if they did not want to be devoured until not even their bones remained, they needed sufficient deterrence.
