Protective Bracelet 2.0
Unfortunately, making a wand is a technical skill.
Of course, Albert could definitely learn to make wands himself if he was willing to learn, but the wands he made would certainly not be as good as Ollivander's, since Ollivander was a professional wand maker with several generations of experience. Unless Albert was willing to spend a lot of experience and Skill Points on wand making, in Albert's eyes, buying a wand from Ollivander for 10 Galleon was obviously more cost-effective.
Indeed, it's more practical to prepare some defensive magical items.
Wizards are usually only wary of another wizard's wand.
Speaking of the Protective Bracelet, Albert opened his box and took out a finished Protective Bracelet. It was a wooden bracelet made from Mandrakes roots, with only Ancient Runes remaining to be carved on it.
Albert has been waiting for his Runes to reach level three. He is currently short of nearly two thousand experience points. The higher the level, the harder it is to gain experience, just like how the experience gained by a high-level character fighting a low-level monster is greatly reduced.
Originally, Albert was planning to advance to level 3 on his own.
"Looks like time waits for no one!" Albert sighed softly. If he wanted to reach level three on his own, it would probably be next year, by which time it would be too late. He wasn't discouraged, though, and remarked, "But having a cheat code is really great!"
With that, Albert upgraded the Runes skill on the panel to level three, then closed his eyes and began reading the new information about Runes that had appeared in his mind.
Skill level three is a threshold.
After Occlumency reaches level three, many wizards can no longer easily see through their own thoughts, and can even fabricate memories to confuse those who are spying on them.
After reaching level three of the Runes, a considerable amount of knowledge was indeed gained, almost exactly as Albert had predicted. This knowledge was related to rune magic.
Using Runic Script to cast spells differs from magic in the traditional sense of wizarding. This difference is somewhat like the difference between the magic of Goblin and House-elf; they both belong to independent magical systems.
This is one of the reasons why the Fiendfyre is considered a very profound spell, and many wizards even use it. Professor Flitwick only mentions it briefly in his advanced Charms Class.
Hmm, Ravenclaw's treasure?
Albert recalled what he had seen in the Chamber of Secrets and guessed how to open Chamber of Secrets.
"Interesting." He muttered to himself, a slight smirk on his face. He did want to head back to the Room of Requirement right now, but he suppressed his inner turmoil.
Let's turn our attention back to the defensive runes we designed earlier.
Looking at the runes in the notebook, Albert was a little speechless. It felt like watching a child trying to explain something beyond their understanding. It wasn't entirely wrong, but it just felt a bit... well, childish.
Yes, it's a bit childish.
Actually, when you truly master it, you'll understand what's really going on.
Albert picked up Quill and began modifying the runes, revising their contents. He then redesigned the runes on the Protective Bracelet, slowly carving them with a ritualistic carving knife. After finishing, he pricked his finger with the knife, letting the blood drip onto the runes, and chanted an incantation to activate them. The result was almost identical to what he had previously known. Finally, the last step was to cast a spell on the Protective Bracelet.
The spell uses Runes and has an effect similar to the Shield Charm, but it is more powerful.
"However, it doesn't feel any different!" Albert picked up the newly made Protective Bracelet version 2.0 and looked it over.
If I had to put it into words, I feel that this thing is now a magical item. The number of times it can be used is actually unrelated to the wizard. Although it is not a one-time use item, there is still a limit to how many times it can be used. The protective effect on it will gradually weaken and need time to recover, which is a bit like the cooldown time of items in a game. This makes Albert find it very interesting.
As for how long the cooldown time of this magical item is, Albert actually doesn't know either.
"Episkey"
Albert raised his wand and ran it across the wound on his finger; the shallow cut made by the knife quickly healed.
Runic Magic differs slightly from the magic used by wizards today; it usually requires a vessel to enhance its power.
The Fiendfyre is one example.
Of course, the reason why the Fiendfyre can continue to burn is also related to the materials used to make it. Its handle is made of Phoenix Wood and also requires Phoenix feathers. Just like the answer to the Eagle Ring Riddle, the Phoenix and the fire are a cycle. This is why the Fiendfyre never goes out.
"The Fiendfyre doesn't seem to be easily extinguished," Albert murmured. "It's just that it's not easy to control. However, the Fiendfyre will devour everything, but the Fiendfyre will not."
That being said, if the Fiendfyre can be considered a skill, then wouldn't the Protective Bracelet he invented also be considered a skill?
After having this idea, Albert opened his Skill Panel and carefully browsed through it. He couldn't find the "Protective Bracelet" skill, but he did find a brand new skill called "Amulet".
The amulet's skill level is almost up to level 1.
"So, this thing is actually a kind of amulet?" Albert looked away, examining the Protective Bracelet on his wrist, and murmured.
However, Albert didn't care whether the skill was a talisman or Protective Bracelet. He upgraded it to level two and then continued to review the knowledge in his mind with his eyes closed.
There's always a suitable method for making amulets.
Albert stared at the Protective Bracelet that had just been made, thought for a moment, and then took out the unicorn statue that he had prepared to give to Isobel. He then carved the necessary runes on it without spending much money.
However, when it came time to bleed him, Albert hesitated for a moment. He held his knife, looked at his thumb, his face twitched slightly, and finally made a gentle, hard prick.
"If it's like this every time, will I get anemia?" Albert muttered to himself as he looked at the completed unicorn.
Level 3 is indeed a hurdle.
However, even with experience points, it's not easy to level up your Panel Skill to level three on your own.
Albert glanced at his experience pool and Skill Points, then at his skills, and sighed softly. He knew he would never have enough experience.
If I could upgrade the skill to level 4...
Albert quickly dismissed the idea; experience was far from enough, and the only level four skill he possessed was the Wizarding Bloodline, which didn't give Albert a very noticeable effect when it reached level four.
Although he was somewhat looking forward to what changes the fourth level of skill would bring, he didn't have enough Skill Points, so he could only upgrade to the fourth level at most.
