Vampire Repellent
The Treasure Map still haunted Harry; he was just one step away from finding the treasure on the Treasure Map.
However, the Treasure Map didn't mark the location of the treasure, which made Harry feel inexplicably frustrated. They were so close, and it would be very frustrating to fail before they succeeded.
Ron kept rambling on about his guesses, but he couldn't offer any real help. Instead, he just kept Harry from getting into the zone, which made him very frustrated.
After several days of deep thought, Harry finally came up with a possibility: take fifteen steps outwards from Hagrid's Pumpkin Patch as the center.
As for why it's fifteen steps instead of fifteen feet, or something else?
In reality, most students simply cannot obtain accurate measuring tools. If they were to walk fifteen steps normally, there certainly wouldn't be a significant error.
After listening, Ron felt that Harry must have been thinking about the Treasure Map the whole time, which caused his thinking to become confused and a bit neurotic.
After all, all of these things were just Harry's wild guesses.
Ron thought the guy who made this Treasure Map must have been trying to trick the students who later found Treasure Map; he was a complete bastard.
When the rain stopped on Saturday afternoon, Harry and Ron rushed to Hagrid's Hunting Cabin with the Treasure Map, ready to dig up the so-called treasure.
You're saying there's treasure near my Pumpkin Patch?
Hagrid paused as he poured tea for Harry after hearing his excited story. He put down the teapot, took the Treasure Map Harry offered, examined it carefully, and shook his head, saying, "Don't be fooled by this. I dare say this so-called Treasure Map Treasure Map is definitely fake. Someone is trying to trick the students who found Treasure Map. If it were real, I would eat it right here."
"I think it's fake too," Ron immediately agreed.
"Hagrid, do you know what pumpkins have to do with the number fifteen?" Harry ignored Hagrid's words and started talking about the "fifteen" information that the Ghost Girl had told him.
"Have no idea."
Hagrid popped a piece of Rock Cake into his mouth, then took a big gulp of strong tea, turned to ask, "Didn't that Ghost Girl tell you anything else?"
"No," Ron answered for Harry.
Harry sipped his hot tea, turned to look at the Pumpkin Patch outside the window, then glanced at the map on the table. Suddenly, he understood something and exclaimed, "I know!"
"What do you know?" Ron looked at Harry in surprise.
Hagrid looked at Harry with curiosity, waiting for him to finish his sentence.
However, Harry didn't seem to intend to explain, and quickly walked outside after putting down his teacup.
Hagrid and Ron looked at each other, unsure of what to say.
The two followed Harry outside, only to find Harry counting the stone steps outside the Pumpkin Patch.
Yes, stone steps.
They had just come to Hagrid's Hunting Cabin via this winding stone path.
Hagrid's Pumpkin Patch is right next to Hagrid Hunting Cabin, and if anything is related to the number fifteen, then the fifteenth step is definitely related to that.
"Harry, did you find something?" Ron came to Harry's side and couldn't help but ask.
"No." Harry stood on the fifteenth step, looking around, trying to find a possible location for the buried treasure. He was a little frustrated because there was no treasure at all.
"Harry, do you think the treasure might be there?" Ron suddenly shouted, pointing to a spot where a strange tree branch was stuck in the ground, its upper half sticking out.
"Yes, maybe it's right there. I'm sure that's the mark of the treasure." Harry ran over excitedly, feeling that he might really have found the treasure.
Hagrid reached out and pulled the branch from the ground, glanced at it, and threw it aside. Then he took a shovel and helped Harry dig the soil away.
Sure enough, a palm-sized Wooden Box was buried under the tree branch.
"Haha, I never thought we'd actually found treasure!" Harry excitedly picked the box up from the ground, wiped off the damp dirt, and opened the Wooden Box.
Ron and Hagrid also craned their necks to see what the legendary treasure was all about.
There was a small bottle inside the wooden box.
"What is this?" Ron reached for the bottle sealed with beeswax, examined it closely, and said to Harry, "There seems to be something in the bottle."
"It looks like a cross?"
Harry took the bottle and examined it closely, then asked uncertainly, "And what are those wax-like things inside?"
"Should we open it and take a look?" Hagrid asked tentatively.
"Harry, there's this in the Wooden Box." Ron picked up a copper plate with the words: "Vampire Repellent!" written on it.
"Vampire Repellent!"
Harry took the copper plate and examined it carefully; it indeed contained only those few words. He looked at Hagrid beside him, puzzled, and asked, "Have you ever seen a vampire?"
"I've seen them, and I've dealt with them. To be honest, most vampires aren't very friendly. However, I think this crucifix charm was probably made to deal with vampires," Hagrid said, offering his guess and asking Harry if he wanted to open the bottle.
"Open it!" Harry said. He was also curious about what kind of amulet was inside that could ward off vampires. "I'll do it."
When Ron opened the bottle, everyone present smelled a terrible, pungent odor that wafted out of the bottle, making them want to vomit.
"Ugh, ugh, what the hell is this?!"
After smelling the strange odor, Ron squatted down and started gagging, and even Harry, who had stepped aside, felt a little nauseous.
"Seal it up!" Hagrid roared.
Harry immediately stepped forward and put the bottle that Ron had thrown on the ground back in its place, which made the pungent smell less intense.
"Don't tell me that the so-called Vampire Repellent is just using that suffocating garlic smell to drive away vampires," Harry complained, panting.
"That's possible!" Ron said, still shaken.
"I bet nobody would wear such a terrifyingly strong-smelling amulet," Hagrid muttered.
"Professor Quirrell, maybe he has one on Professor Quirrell. Don't forget, Professor Quirrell has a very strong strange smell about him," Ron suggested. "How about we give this ' Vampire Repellent ' to Quirrell?"
After all, Professor Quirrell did say he was worried that vampires would come after him, which is why he made himself smell strange; perhaps he would need this.
Of course, Ron was actually afraid that Harry might have a sudden lapse in judgment and decide to wear this strange-smelling amulet, making his friend smell weird all over.
"Hmm, I think he'll need it." Harry nodded, clearly agreeing with Ron's suggestion. After all, they wouldn't have any use for this so-called treasure, so it would be better to let it be put to good use by someone who needed it.
