Hagrid losing the case was entirely within Albert's expectations. It did not cause any ripples in his school life.

Potter came to see him several times to discuss ways to save Buckbeak, but Albert dismissed him every time with, "You don't need to worry about it. I'll handle it."

As for how he intended to handle it, that was none of Harry's business.

Albert's lack of trust annoyed both Harry and Ron, but they could not think of any way to save Buckbeak. Even Hermione had already despaired of winning the case for Hagrid.

Moreover, Hermione warned the two of them not to interfere or mention the matter outside, lest they bring trouble upon Hagrid and possibly get Buckbeak killed directly.

So, although Harry and Ron had initially been furious, they had not let their anger cloud their minds. They could not save Buckbeak, nor could they bear the responsibility of getting Buckbeak killed because of themselves. Therefore, all they could do now was trust him—trust that Albert could help Hagrid resolve the matter perfectly.

"Keep appealing?" Ron asked in confusion.

"Yes, that was Albert's idea," Hermione explained. "Albert believes Hagrid shouldn't give up his chance to appeal. Even if he knows he'll lose, he should keep appealing until he fails completely."

"But... why?"

Harry could not understand. Since Albert had a way to solve the problem, why go to such wasted effort? "He thinks the Malfoy family spent a great many Galleons bribing the Committee's wizards. Perhaps they should be made to spend even more Galleons."

In fact, Hermione knew Albert's intentions. He wanted Malfoy to spend more money buying off other wizards, while also putting on a show of having done everything possible to mislead everyone.
