As June 24 drew nearer, Albert's nerves began to tighten. Unlike the Savior Potter, who was growing increasingly confident, Albert was not particularly interested in the Triwizard Tournament's Third Task. More precisely, he had no interest in risking his life to explore a maze.
Even though Albert knew that dealing with Fake Moody during the Third Task would bring him a great many rewards, gains and rewards were often proportional. To complete the tasks on the panel, he had to risk his life to deal with a dangerous Death Eater.
After all, everyone was equal before the Avada Kedavra Curse.
Perhaps it was because he now possessed so many things he had never had in his previous life, along with a cheat-enabled life, that Albert feared losing everything he had now.
He found himself even more nervous than when he had faced the Basilisk years ago, or any of the other dangers since. And yet, he had made thorough preparations this time; he was far better equipped than he had been back then when facing danger.
Perhaps seeking wealth amid danger no longer suited him. Being a cautious old coward was probably a better fit now!
More than once, Albert had mocked himself deep down, finding it rather amusing that he had been sorted into Gryffindor. He was not a brave person.
At least, Albert had never thought of himself as particularly brave.
Although Albert had not shown the slightest hint of nervousness from beginning to end, the fact that he had been constantly checking his plans ever since June began showed just how anxious he truly was.
Though the outcome of the Third Task would most likely proceed according to Albert's original plan, he was still making more meticulous preparations to ensure that he could retreat unharmed if necessary.
