While a duel over who was "more sinister and cunning" had just erupted in the depths of the maze, the bored-to-death spectators outside were murmuring among themselves. Just like during the Second Task, everyone could only wait outside patiently for the results.
Being unable to see what was happening inside the maze undoubtedly greatly dampened the audience's enthusiasm for the final, since there was simply nothing to watch.
Isobel and Nia sat in the family seating area, waiting patiently. Perhaps to conceal her anxiety, Isobel was grooming Tom. The fat cat, utterly unaware of anything, yawned carefree as it enjoyed the food Nia fed it.
At the judges' table nearby, Dumbledore narrowed his eyes and looked above the maze, though no one knew what he was thinking.
Just moments ago, Green Sparks had risen above the maze.
That was not a good sign.
"What is it?"
Amelia Bones noticed Dumbledore's reaction and asked in confusion.
"Green Sparks rose," Dumbledore suddenly said.
"Is there something wrong with Green Sparks?" As an Auror, Scrimgeour was more perceptive than most in many respects.
"The distress signal is Red Sparks." Dumbledore did not think the Champions would get something so simple wrong.
"Is there no signal involving Green Sparks?" Scrimgeour frowned.
"No." Dumbledore shook his head.
"What is wrong with Green Sparks?" Fudge found their conversation baffling.
Just as everyone was waiting drowsily, a silver beast swept through the night sky. After gracefully circling once above their heads, it landed near the podium.
"What is that?"
Whispers broke out in the stands as the silver Griffin drew everyone's attention.
"A Patronus?"
Amelia Bones studied the Patronus before her with interest. Just as she was about to ask a question, the Patronus suddenly opened its mouth and spoke in Albert's calm voice.
"I was attacked.
