Vol. 9The Fourth Champion

Albert won magical awards, helped his friends prepare for the dangers surrounding the Quidditch World Cup, and uncovered parts of Voldemort’s plot at Hogwarts. After the Goblet of Fire named both Albert and Harry as Champions, Albert won the first task and went home for Christmas with Isobel.

  • Albert won the Barnabus Finkley spell-casting competition despite Ithius Knowlton’s attempt to disqualify him, then rejected Yanila’s advances and contacted Isobel.
  • Albert finished his O.W.L.s, received the Order of Merlin, Third Class, and planned summer trips with family and friends.

Arc 33The Gold Award

Albert completed his O.W.L.s, spent the summer making plans with family and friends, and traveled to Spain for the spell-casting competition. He won the championship and Gold Award despite attempts to disqualify him, then rejected Yanila’s advances and spoke with Isobel.

  • Albert finished his O.W.L. exams, celebrated Gryffindor’s House Cup victory, and learned that Peter Pettigrew had escaped Azkaban and was reported dead.
  • Sirius and Lupin visited the Dursleys and arranged for Harry to stay with his relatives for part of each summer, while Albert received the Order of Merlin, Third Class.
  • Albert earned twelve Outstandings, planned summer trips with Isobel and Nia, and left for Spain with Bard to enter the Barnabus Finkley spell-casting competition.
  • Albert performed a lifelike lion transformation in the first round, then advanced to the final after earning forty-five points with Bluebell Flames.

Arc 34The World Cup and the Dark Mark

Albert won the Pioneering Contribution Gold Award, brought Isobel and their friends to the Quidditch World Cup, and joined Sirius and Lupin’s plan for a Defence Against the Dark Arts magazine. The World Cup ended with the Dark Mark over the campsite, and Albert suspected Voldemort’s scheme might target him.

  • Albert presented Mandrakes Wine and Flying Ointment at the International Alchemy Conference, won the Pioneering Contribution Gold Award, and left Egypt with Isobel and their friends.
  • Peter captured Bertha Jorkins, found Voldemort in Albania, and helped him begin planning his return using Harry Potter’s blood.
  • Albert used divination to confirm to Sirius that Peter was alive and heading toward Voldemort, then gave Sirius Felix Felicis and advised him and Lupin on starting a magazine.
  • Albert took Nia to the Quidditch World Cup, where Bulgaria beat the United States after Krum caught the Snitch, and warned his companions that Death Eaters might cause trouble.

Arc 35The Fourth Champion

Voldemort’s plot to force Harry into the Triwizard Tournament unfolded as Albert uncovered Moody’s imposture and survived an attempt to keep him out of the competition. The Goblet named Albert and Harry as Hogwarts Champions, leaving Voldemort’s servants to revise their plans while Albert hid how much he knew.

  • Little Barty captured Moody, took his identity, and went to Hogwarts to guide Harry into Voldemort’s hands through the Triwizard Tournament.
  • Albert warned his friends that Moody was probably an impostor and told Dumbledore that Harry would become a Champion, while keeping his suspicions about the conspiracy guarded.
  • Peter entered Hogwarts to use the Imperius Curse and altered memories to prevent Albert from competing, but Albert spotted him on the Marauder’s Map.
  • Katrina, under the Imperius Curse, lured Albert to the Room of Requirement with Love Potion, but Albert freed her and hid with her until the Halloween Party ended.

Albert prepared Harry for the Triwizard Tournament, then won the first task against a dragon while Karkaroff’s disgrace sent him fleeing Hogwarts. As the Wizard Card Club crowned Luna champion and the students arranged Christmas Ball partners, Albert went home for Christmas with Isobel.

  • Albert discussed the tournament and Voldemort’s plans with Harry, Hermione, and Sirius, and helped arrange dangerous Forbidden Forest training for Harry.
  • Albert turned down Yanila’s request to be his Christmas Ball partner, while warning Hagrid about his teaching plans and learning more about the visiting Beauxbatons students.
