Successful Experiment and Han Li's Perverted Remark. Not only were the Worship Hall's consecrated elders puzzled by Han Li's words—even Qian Daoliu showed a trace of confusion.
The others turned their gazes toward Broad Hill and Azure Luan, wanting to know what was going on, only to see the two shake their heads and point at Han Li in the center, signaling for them to let him continue. Clearly, they supported him.
Golden Crocodile's eyes flickered as he glanced at Xiu'er, seeming to have guessed something. He then sighed inwardly but said nothing.
Qian Daoliu also glanced at Xiu'er, but showed no reaction. Instead, he said seriously, "Very well, but are you certain? Perhaps I may not be able to fulfill your request."
"I am certain. Even if it fails, I still want to try."
Han Li did not rise. He merely answered loudly, his still-childish voice filled with determination.
"Then state your request."
Qian Daoliu spoke calmly.
"Yes, Grand Uncle-Master."
Han Li bowed once more, then straightened. "I hope to obtain a bear-type Soul Bone from any body part, one that is at least ten years old but no more than a hundred years old, and I ask Uncle-Master to protect Sister Xiu'er while she absorbs it."
The moment he finished speaking, the Worship Hall fell silent. Even Qian Daoliu's expression blanked for an instant, as though he suspected he had misheard.
It was not that Han Li's request was excessive. It was simply too easy—far too easy to match such a promise. Though low-year Soul Bones were difficult to find, the continent was vast. Even if they went out and killed Soul Beasts specifically for them, they could gather enough without affecting the preservation of the Soul Beast Forest. They were merely ten-year Soul Bones; compared to the reproduction rate of Soul Beasts, it would take only a few years to recover.
The key question was, what was the point of such low-year Soul Bones? They were only somewhat useful to Soul Scholars. For Soul Masters of higher ranks, their enhancement could probably be ignored. Was this brat deliberately making fools of them? And besides, the little girl could not cultivate. Could she even absorb a Soul Bone?
Seeing everyone's confusion, Han Li immediately laid out his entire idea. Given what Broad Hill had previously revealed about Han Li's insights into Martial Soul development, the consecrated elders did not dismiss him. Instead, they seriously considered its feasibility. The more they thought about it, the more viable it seemed, and they even began discussing it among themselves.
Qian Daoliu also narrowed his eyes and pondered for a while before waving for everyone to quiet down.
"I have received your request. However, whether it is feasible can only be determined through an experiment. Still, I can guarantee that with me here, even failure will not cause any harmful effects. I will ask you once more: are you certain?"
"I am." Han Li answered without hesitation.
"Very well. Then as you wish."
Qian Daoliu flipped his palm, and a Soul Bone emitting faint Soul Power fluctuations appeared in his hand, shining with a crystal-like glow.
"You are quite fortunate. If it were another type of Soul Bone, we would need to search for one. But I happen to have a bear-type Soul Bone here, one even weaker than what you had expected."
"Strictly speaking, I cannot confirm its age either. I obtained it when I traveled the continent and killed a Crystal Bear that was about to give birth. It did not belong to the mother, but was produced by a cub that had died in the womb. I thought it would remain in my Soul Tool merely as a memento. I never expected it to be useful today."
As Qian Daoliu spoke, a trace of reminiscence appeared on his face. If not for Han Li's request, he might have nearly forgotten that such an item still existed in his storage space.
"Bring her over. Perhaps this is fate as well. No one is more suitable for this Soul Bone than she is. Although even I, its owner, do not know which body part it comes from, it undeniably carries a dense aura of a bear-type Soul Beast. It could not be better for this attempt."
Only after a long while did Qian Daoliu emerge from his memories. Looking at Han Li's eager face, he spoke.
"Yes, Uncle-Master."
Han Li hurriedly pulled Sister Xiu'er closer to Qian Daoliu, his eyes full of encouragement.
Qian Daoliu glanced at Xiu'er before a flash of white light passed through his hand and enveloped her. His Soul Power guided the Soul Bone in his hand as it flew toward Xiu'er.
The moment the Soul Bone landed on her body, Xiu'er, who had closed her eyes and was trying to meditate, felt her heart suddenly contract. Then she lost consciousness.
Han Li nervously caught the collapsing Xiu'er in his arms. Seeing her brows tightly furrowed as if she were enduring pain, he looked up at Qian Daoliu and was about to speak when he heard the latter utter a soft "Hm?" and increase the flow of Sacred Power once more.
"Rest assured, she is fine. On the contrary, she has gained a blessing through misfortune. Your idea has succeeded, though it may also have been an accident. The corresponding location of this Soul Bone is the heart, a position never seen before. By a twist of fate, the Soul Power within her body has already begun to flow. The two are now merging. Once she wakes up, she will be able to cultivate."
Seeing that Han Li still wanted to speak, Qian Daoliu proactively added.
"That is good. That is good."
Han Li finally let out a breath and slumped to the ground, smiling as he looked at Xiu'er in his arms.
A full five minutes later, Qian Daoliu withdrew the Soul Power protecting Xiu'er. By then, her furrowed brows had relaxed, and her complexion was rosy. Han Li, being closest to her, could even clearly hear her heartbeat.
"She should wake up in another five minutes or so. Do not worry."
After saying that, Qian Daoliu turned a stern gaze on Han Li. "Do not try this again in the future. This success involved coincidence. With another person, another Soul Bone, or without my Soul Power protecting her, she might have died on the spot."
Qian Daoliu deliberately exaggerated the danger. This brat was far too troublesome, and he knew perfectly well that the experiment had actually succeeded.
If it had been a Soul Bone from another body part, it might have succeeded under the care of a Soul Emperor. But there was no need to publicize something that could not be widely applied. Even a ten-year Soul Bone represented considerable wealth, and people who were half-awakened like Xiu'er were just as rare.
Moreover, he was certain that even if someone else succeeded using the same method, their Soul Power Level would not be very high. There was simply no need to make such news public.
A wave of lingering fear passed through Han Li's heart. His arms tightened around Xiu'er as he answered decisively, "Do not worry, Uncle-Master. There will not be a next time. I only have one Sister Xiu'er."
Hearing his answer, Qian Daoliu nodded and spoke again. "This experiment is also of considerable significance to Spirit Hall, so it will not count as your request. Therefore, my earlier promise to you remains valid."
After saying that, he closed his eyes and assumed an attitude that clearly refused further discussion.
Han Li still wanted to say something, but Broad Hill had already leaned over and directly covered his mouth, threatening him with his eyes to stay quiet.
Han Li nodded helplessly, but grumbled inwardly that he had not intended to refuse. He had been about to say, "Thank you, Uncle-Master." It seemed his teacher still did not understand him.
He began whispering with Broad Hill. Neither of them noticed that the corners of Qian Daoliu's lips, though his eyes were closed, lifted slightly before quickly disappearing. Someone who valued affection so deeply would be Xue'er's best helper in the future.
Just as Qian Daoliu had said, a little over five minutes later, Xiu'er woke up. Feeling the Soul Power within her body beginning to flow clearly, her tears immediately began to fall again.
After crying for a while, she noticed the consecrated elders around her all watching with smiles. Only then did she shyly climb out of Han Li's arms, bow respectfully to them, and run back behind Han Li.
"Test your Soul Power."
Azure Luan thoughtfully handed over a crystal ball for testing Soul Power. Han Li gave him a grateful look. He had actually forgotten to prepare such an essential tool.
"Come, Sister Xiu'er. Test your Soul Power Level."
Han Li took the crystal ball and placed it in Xiu'er's hand. Blue light rose, and the crystal ball shone with a fairly strong radiance.
"Level 8."
Han Li cried out in delight. This was far higher than he had expected. Only then did he notice that Sister Xiu'er's originally brown ears had somehow turned crystal-colored, gleaming with a kaleidoscope of hues under the light. It must be because of the Crystal Bear Heart Soul Bone, he guessed inwardly.
"Your Martial Soul has evolved into a Crystal Bear, and you possess Innate Level 8 Soul Power. Sister Xiu'er, you can be considered a genius anywhere on the continent." Han Li praised her without restraint, overjoyed.
"Mhm."
Xiu'er looked at the happy Han Li and gave him a sweet smile, but she was not as excited as he was. She did not really care what level she had. It was all thanks to Xiao Li.
"Sister Xiu'er, try retracting your Martial Soul," Han Li continued instructing her.
Xiu'er obediently closed her eyes. After quite a while, she opened them with a dejected expression and said softly, "Xiao Li, I have disappointed you. I can do everything else you mentioned, but it seems my ears cannot be retracted."
"Hm? There is such a good thing?"
Han Li blurted it out, only to see several consecrated elders looking at him as if he were a pervert. He gave an embarrassed smile and took Xiu'er's hand. "Sister Xiu'er, do not misunderstand. What I mean is, I like Beast-Ear Girls the most."
As soon as he said it, he wanted to slap himself again. Sure enough, the consecrated elders' gazes became even stranger. Even Qian Daoliu, who had been eavesdropping, had the corner of his mouth twitch.
Only Xiu'er's little face burned crimson. She lowered her head, not daring to look up at him, and said in an even softer voice than before, "As long as Xiao Li likes it, I do not mind."
Well, there was no explaining it now. How had he accidentally spoken his true feelings aloud? Han Li stared speechlessly at the sky.
