Background

Han Li was an orphan from Notting City in Fanos Province of the Heaven Dou Empire. His Martial Soul Awakening drew attention because its ice-and-fire weapon spirit could take both bow and twin-blade forms, while the process itself exhausted Su Yuntao's Soul Power 3 4.

Aware that strength determined one’s ability to protect what one valued, Han Li sought powerful backing immediately after attracting the attention of Guangling, the Broad Hill Douluo. He addressed Guangling as “Teacher” before the latter had accepted him, then passed his test through directness and quick judgment. Their apprenticeship was formalized with a tea ceremony 7.

He pursued an unconventional development route from the outset. Rather than attach ice- or fire-aligned rings that could unbalance his dual attributes, he intended to prioritize amplification skills early and develop elemental affinity and control over time 8. His first ring was absorbed through the Ice Fire Bow form to avoid further mutation caused by the opposing attributes of his twin-blade form 15.

Despite his pragmatism, he is deeply protective of those he considers his own. He was willing to surrender a 100,000-year Soul Ring and Soul Bone opportunity to give Xiu'er a path to cultivation, even at the risk of angering his newly accepted teacher 14. He is also generous when it serves both affection and long-term planning, such as giving Broad Hill the Blazing Apricot Delicate Vegetable 62.
