Glorious Mortal

"Stupid, arrogant, conceited, jealous—what right do you have to call yourself a god? You are unworthy of this honor! Since you envy that Midgardian, I'll give you this chance. Go be a Midgardian, then—be a mortal forever!!"

Odin used his immense divine power to forcibly tear Thor's armor from him, stripping away Thor's godly power as well.

By the time his final word fell, Thor had become a strong but ordinary man.

The next second, Odin shoved Thor into the Bifrost and cast an enchantment upon Mjolnir. "Whoever can lift this hammer shall possess the power of the Thunder God."

With that, he threw Thunder God's Hammer into the Bifrost, the fury on his face still unabated.

"Father, he was merely blinded by rage. I'll go bring him back right away." A flash of wild delight crossed Loki's eyes, but he still spoke with false concern.

Odin glanced at Loki. He knew all too well what this adopted son was thinking.

"No need. He cannot return."

"I understand. You want him to spend some time as a mortal in Midgard and calm down? That's a good idea. Once he comes to his senses—"

"He may not even survive to return to Asgard." Odin's tone grew heavier. "Something unusual is happening in Midgard. I have only one expectation of him: that he strives to stay alive in Midgard."

Loki froze, the secret delight in his heart vanishing completely.

He would have loved for that damned Thor to suffer, the worse his fate, the better—but now someone dared to hurt Thor?

How could that be allowed? Thor could only be messed with by him; no one else had that right! Much less take Thor's life! Loki said, "In a place like Midgard, who would dare harm the Son of Odin? The Eternals? Do they have that kind of nerve?"

"The Eternals may not personally wish to harm Thor, but they are not the ones deciding their actions. Their renewed activity must be driven by some unspeakable motive. This is not a good sign," Odin said.

The pawns the Celestials had placed on Earth would never do anything meaningless. Every move they made was at Arishem's command. Odin firmly believed this; he knew too well how terrifying the Celestials were.

Loki grew even more puzzled. He did not know that the gods of the World Tree had once fought the Celestials, so he could not understand Odin's concern.

They were merely Eternals. Were they really worth so much attention from the strongest God-King of the World Tree? Loki had also learned the latest news from Heimdall. Look at that—even some unknown nobody who had suddenly appeared in a place like Midgard had caused an Eternal powerhouse to suffer badly. That only proved the Eternals were not worth too much concern.

As for Thor envying that nobody, well, given his stupid brother's mind, it was entirely possible. Loki could figure out how Thor thought with his eyes closed:

The Eternals had actually stolen a share of Father's attention. Unforgivable.

Then wouldn't the mortal who had defeated the Eternals be even more worthy of attention than they were? Even more unforgivable! That was Thor's one-track logic.

Odin's expression turned icy. "He has already been exiled. From now on, whether he lives or dies has nothing to do with me!"

"But he is an Asgardian! And Mjolnir..."

"If a Midgardian can lift Mjolnir, then he can obtain the power of the Thunder God. This is the enchantment of God-King Odin—and also a blessing!" Odin snorted coldly.

What else could he do? Send Thor to one of the other seven realms? In that case, Thor would truly be doomed. At least on Earth, with Ancient One standing guard, Thor still had a good chance.

Besides, if he did not send Thor to Earth and give him a chance to learn humility and caution, then there would truly be no saving him.

Moreover, as the heir to Asgard, if he could not even endure a little hardship, then he was not qualified to become the next God-King.

"Midgard, Earth... Setting aside my concerns about the Celestials, Ancient One clearly holds the Time Stone. What is she still hesitating over?" Odin narrowed his eyes.

When he had communicated with Ancient One across time and space, he could sense that her mind was not focused on this matter.

He could not understand it, but after much consideration, Odin believed that as long as no Single Universe Level god appeared, the power he could currently wield would leave him unafraid of any enemy below that level.

The dazzling Bifrost pierced through the deep, desolate vacuum of space, carrying mortal Thor and a hammer to Earth, where it traced a complex and mysterious symbol across the land of New Mexico.

Unfortunately, perhaps because of the small ripple indirectly caused by Duva, Thor did not encounter Jane Foster. Naturally, Jane would not send him to a hospital, and the string of subsequent events never unfolded.

Thor landed safely on the ground and repeatedly roared at the sky:

"Heimdall, open the Bifrost now and send me back!"

"Heimdall!"

He shouted like that from night until dawn, then from dawn until night. His stomach was growling, his throat had gone hoarse, yet he received no response. At last, Thor began to panic.

Or rather, for the Thunder God's throat to actually become hoarse was far too terrifying. It meant he had truly become a mortal, his divine power completely gone.

Thor decided to find a tavern in Midgard and fill his stomach first. The Thunder God should not starve to death in this godforsaken place.

He picked a direction and began a long trek down the highway.

That walk lasted another whole day.

The farther Thor walked, the more aggrieved and furious he became. If he still had his hammer, he would have flown long ago. Why would he need to walk? Had his father thrown him into a place like this just to train his stamina?

Come to think of it, after falling into the Bifrost, he had clearly seen his hammer being thrown in as well. He had no idea where it had landed.

"As long as I retrieve Mjolnir, I can regain my divine power!"

Thor believed this deeply. All the hope he had left rested on that hammer.

What he did not know was that in a small town dozens of kilometers away, a large crowd of mortals had already found his hammer, quickly turning it into a major event.

Even more than a dozen hot dog vendors had shown up.

"Move aside, move aside! You're not strong enough. I'll definitely be able to lift it!"

"This looks just like Thunder God's Hammer from storybooks. Could it be real?"

"Someone drove a pickup truck over!"

"Hot dogs! Cheap hot dogs!"

The scene was bustling and deafening.

Those who had discovered the hammer and rushed over were not merely ordinary people, nor were they only from S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Deviants Leader, having absorbed Juggernaut, changed his original route and headed there as well.
