Duva had never expected this. He had considered many possibilities beforehand—for instance, that this universe's Ancient One might be a male version of Ancient One, extraordinarily powerful and favored by cosmic Creation Gods such as Eternity.
He could even have accepted a drastic change in personality. If Ancient One had been extremely difficult to deal with and started shouting about killing him the moment they met, Duva had been mentally prepared for that as well. He had meticulously prepared a countermeasure plan and several self-preservation plans specifically for such a situation.
