Unlocking the Third Ability
When the time came, he could forcibly use Black Particle and destroy this thing in an instant before the Mutant Controller could react, then escape along the route he had observed during the day! Su Yao knew that doing this was indeed dangerous. He might even be captured and directly subjected to a series of punishments and experiments before ultimately dying! It was not as if he had never considered lying low and developing for a while, waiting until he had grown stronger before destroying this Experimental Base, but...
But if he did not escape, he might die even sooner! He had a feeling that before long, he would face a second experiment. By then, his body...
Looking at the mere eighty-three days of lifespan remaining on the panel, Su Yao's expression turned very grim.
If he did not escape, he would die. If he escaped, there might still be a sliver of hope. Even an idiot knew which choice to make! Just then, he noticed something and froze slightly.
The energy he had consumed earlier while using Black Particle had actually recovered a little? Before he had a way to expend energy, he had not noticed it, but now he immediately realized something was different.
"Was it because I absorbed moonlight?" Su Yao guessed.
It seemed moonlight really could be absorbed? Then did that not mean he had another source of Energy Points? With that thought in mind, he shifted his position so that his body could be more directly exposed to the moonlight.
After waiting nearly half an hour, he still did not hear any notification of Light Energy increasing by one. Instead, the energy within his body kept recovering.
"Looks like I can't collect Light Energy until the energy in my body has recovered?"
"Light Energy is being supplied to my body first?"
Besides that, he noticed something else unusual. The total amount of Light Energy stored in his body seemed to have exceeded its previous limit! He guessed at the reason.
"Because I unlocked two new abilities, Black Particle and Reflection Shield?"
Thinking of this, he could not help feeling delighted.
When he had used Black Particle before, he had discovered that the energy in his body decreased by roughly one-tenth. In other words, he could use Black Particle at most ten times! He had previously worried that the energy in his body would not be enough to use his abilities later, but now it seemed he had worried for nothing.
As he unlocked more and more abilities, the energy within his body would grow larger and larger, and he would only be able to use his abilities more times! After sorting all this out, he endured the pain in his body and forcibly dragged his bed into the moonlight's reach. Then he lay down and closed his eyes.
"I wonder what ability will unlock tomorrow?"
With anticipation and curiosity, he ignored the noise coming from the other cells and quickly drifted into sleep.
The next day.
Just as the sun rose, Su Yao was awakened by a series of notification sounds.
Light Energy +1
Light Energy +1
Su Yao opened his eyes and focused his attention on the panel.
Name: Su Yao Age: 16 (Remaining Lifespan: 82 days) Mutant Abilities: Mimicry, Energy Absorption Current Mimicry Target: Orochi (Titles: Sun God, Earth's Will) (Unlock Progress: 23%) Abilities: Black Particle (1/100), Level 1 Reflection Shield (0/100), Level 1 (Unlocked) Energy Points: 44
Seeing the number of Energy Points, Su Yao was not surprised.
The effect of moonlight had been weak to begin with, and with the moon shifting position, absorbing this much was already pretty good.
The first thing he did was try adding the Energy Points to Black Particle's experience bar, but to his disappointment, nothing happened.
"Looks like that won't work."
After feeling regretful for a moment, he turned his attention to the Unlock Progress.
As the Energy Points dropped to zero, the progress bar reached 24%.
After being slightly disappointed, he continued waiting.
Time passed...

After absorbing for quite a while, just as he had begun to lose track of time, familiar footsteps sounded.
With a clatter, a tray of food giving off a rancid smell and a bowl of soup faintly reeking of urine were placed on the floor.
Frowning at the bowl of soup, he turned his gaze toward the white man, his eyes indifferent.
Jill smiled, shot him a mocking glance, and leisurely turned to leave.
Su Yao held himself back for quite a while, barely stopping himself from firing a Black Particle and sending that man on his way.
"Soon..." he muttered.
A moment later, as his Energy Points dropped to zero, the Unlock Progress suddenly jumped.
Unlock Progress: 26%
A notification sounded immediately afterward.
Ability: Space Teleportation (Unlocked)
Hearing the notification in his ears, Su Yao's mood became exceptionally good.
"Space Teleportation, it's finally here!"
With this ability, he had even more confidence in tonight's prison break! If he had not tested Black Particle and learned just how ridiculously disappointing level-one abilities were, he would have wanted to Teleport straight outside the Experimental Base right now.
After carefully sensing it and finding that he could Teleport at most around two meters, he felt it was somewhat underwhelming.
"Forget it. Better than nothing. At least it'll be useful for passing through walls and dodging attacks."
Not long after, he discovered that the maximum Light Energy in his body had increased again. He could probably use Black Particle around thirteen times now! "Barely enough!"
Su Yao could not help looking forward to tonight's prison break.
Time passed quickly.
While absorbing Light Energy, Su Yao used the recreation period to inspect his escape route.
Soon, it was seven in the evening, and the Unlock Progress had reached 34%. Just as Su Yao was planning to escape at eleven or twelve o'clock, something unexpected happened.
Familiar footsteps sounded in the corridor. It was that white man! What was he doing here? Watching Jill prepare to open the cell door, Su Yao frowned.
"Come out. You're coming with me to the laboratory."
Jill's eyes were filled with malice, yet also carried a trace of pity, as though he were looking at some pitiful person.
Su Yao's heart skipped a beat. He had a premonition.
This familiar process—there was no mistake. They were definitely preparing to take his life! Taking a deep breath, Su Yao forcibly suppressed the urge to erupt.
No, I can't make a move now...
Very quickly, he came up with a plan.
The laboratory was closer to the main exit anyway. He could take out those people who were preparing to experiment on him, and perhaps grab some keycards while he was at it! During the day, he had noticed that several doors required cards to open. Although he now had Space Teleportation, it was better to conserve as much energy as possible. After all, he had no idea what he might encounter later.
Having thought it through, he pretended to comply, got up, and walked out of the cell. Then he consciously headed toward the laboratory.
Seeing him like this, Jill sneered and looked down on the freak ahead of him even more.
As expected, mutants were useless! Before long, after passing through several doors, they arrived at the experimental area.
