Su Yao's expression changed drastically. The instant he released the man, he used Space Teleportation and vanished from his original position.
Space Teleportation Experience +1
Bang! Bang! The sound of bullets striking the ground rang out, sending cold sweat streaming down his back.
This wasn't a movie, a TV drama, or some absurd war show. If he took a few bullets, he would probably collapse to the ground screaming in pain immediately, completely unable to move.
Thinking of this, he disregarded the energy he was wasting and Blinked several more times in an instant.

Using the cover of night, combined with the nearly imperceptible nature of Space Teleportation, he successfully reached the car.
He had barely unlocked the door with the remote key and gotten inside when a rapid volley of gunfire erupted beside his ears.
Bang! Bang! Bang! It was accompanied by the sound of shattering car windows.
"Mm..."
Su Yao clutched his left arm and let out a pained cry.
A bullet hole had appeared in his arm, blood flowing from it.
Su Yao's face turned pale, and the pain nearly made him pass out.
He started the engine and slammed down on the accelerator, sending the car straight toward the road ahead.
At the same time, he squeezed out every last bit of energy in his body, forming a Reflection Shield in front of the windows.
Reflection Shield Experience +1
Whoosh—the sound of bullets tearing through the air rang out! Then an astonishing sight appeared! Space rippled faintly, and the bullets seemed to be swallowed by it, vanishing without a trace! At the same time, Su Yao sensed an inexplicable void space. Within it, the metal bullets were rapidly breaking apart into nothingness, while the kinetic force they carried was absorbed by that space.
These forces gathered together, forming a special blue energy...
At that moment, Su Yao had a premonition that he could reflect that energy back if he wanted to! He did not release it immediately, partly because the car was already speeding away, but also because he had no focus left to aim.
The agonizing pain in his arm and the direction the car was heading had consumed all his attention. He had no spare mental capacity to notice anything else.
The car sped forward at an unchecked pace! "Bastard!"
Captain Kenny's expression was grim as he watched the black car speed away in the distance.
No one had ever escaped the base in all these years. Was this going to become an exception under his watch? The thought made his fury surge. "Chase him! We have to catch that brat!"
By the time he gave the order to pursue, Su Yao had already driven far away.
Glancing at the activated navigation device in the car, he headed toward the nearest city.
Cold sweat covered his forehead along the way, and his mind was beginning to grow hazy.
If not for his sheer will to survive, the lack of other vehicles on the road, and the original owner's astonishing driving skills, he would have probably already crashed by now.
"Is that brat not afraid of dying?"
Kenny stared in shock at the car racing away in the distance.
How did he dare drive that fast? "Hurry up and catch him!" he shouted.
The soldier driving was drenched in sweat as he hurriedly explained, "We can't, sir. Going any faster could easily cause an accident..."
"Damn it..." Kenny's expression shifted uncertainly, but in the end, he did not order them to accelerate.
Compared to catching that lowly mutant, his own life was more important.
And so, while keeping their speed in check, they could only watch helplessly as the car vanished into the distance. Even the bullets they fired had done nothing.
Kenny's face was cold and sinister. "I'll catch you. Don't think you'll be safe just because you escaped the base!"
What awaited that brat would be a wanted notice and their relentless pursuit! He would be chased like a rat in the streets, fleeing in blind panic! Kenny refused to believe that the brat who had humiliated him so badly could run far or hide for long. Within a day or two at most, or a few days at the latest, that brat would definitely be caught and brought back! When that happened, he would personally teach the brat a lesson and let him experience what real misery was! As he thought of it, a smile spread across his face.
After pursuing for some time, as they neared the city's slums, they spotted a black car on fire. As for the boy inside, he had long since disappeared without a trace. No one knew where he had gone.
After searching for a while longer without finding the brat, Kenny drove back to the base while the others continued searching.
Experiment Base No. 23.
Inside an office.
"What did you say? You let that test subject escape?"
The middle-aged man sitting in a chair wore a black-and-white suit and had his hair slicked back. His brows furrowed.
Facing the base director, Alessandro, Kenny forced a smile. "Sir, give me some time. I'll definitely bring Experiment No. 37 back!"
Alessandro's expression eased somewhat at his words. "Let's hope so."
After saying that, he no longer paid much attention to Number Thirty-Seven. After all, it was merely an ordinary test subject.
He picked up a freshly printed stack of documents from the desk and began flipping through them casually.
They contained information on Experiment No. 37, as well as an analysis of the abilities he had displayed not long ago.
Two new abilities had been specially highlighted.
Mutant Ability: The target is suspected to possess psychic teleportation, allowing him to Teleport a short distance through thought. Can release black energy spheres with considerable power, suspected to possess a disintegration effect. The upper limit of destructive power is unknown and requires further testing...
In such a short time, the Experimental Base had documented and analyzed Su Yao's abilities.
If the effects of the Reflection Shield had not been so subtle, and if it had not been nighttime, perhaps that ability would have appeared in the files as well.
As he looked over the rough figures in the analysis, such as the power of the Mutant Ability and the range of the psychic teleportation, Alessandro could not help feeling disappointed and regretful.
"What a shame. In the end, he's just a failed subject..."
He shook his head.
Number Thirty-Seven had been an infant cultivated from the genes of two powerful mutants, Magneto and Professor X, yet he possessed so little power. To be honest, Alessandro was disappointed.
At first, the boy could only absorb sunlight, which had greatly disappointed them and even made them give up on researching him for a time.
And now, even though the kid had awakened his abilities a second time, they were still nothing impressive.
Psychic teleportation that could supposedly only move one or two meters, along with black energy spheres with decent destructive power—what use were they? Could psychic teleportation over such a short distance only be used to pass through walls? As for those strange black spheres of light, firearms could produce the same effect. Their effect on people was about the same too, so what was the point? Just send out a few people armed with guns, and they could take down an ability user like this!
