Background

Lin Xiao was born into the Lin family, a prominent aristocratic household near Shanyang City in Qingze Domain. Before its collapse, the family possessed over one hundred million Spirit Coins in assets, an ancestral estate, and the vast Twin Wood Realm. He studied at Shanyang Martial Academy and had already cultivated through his family’s resources, though his true body had only barely entered the third tier and possessed impure true essence. 1 2 15

His father disappeared after arranging debts that bankrupted the family. Lin Xiao inherited obligations equivalent to 350 million Spirit Coins, with ongoing interest, while the family’s remaining Twin Wood Realm could not be sold because of a notarized contract. His father’s recorded message left him two options: marry Madam Kang, whose prior husbands had all died in accidents, or descend through the Primordial Gate. Lin Xiao chose descent. 1

The Primordial Gate projected a strand of his soul into a randomly selected world and recast it into the body of a weak fourteen-year-old native. He inherited that body’s final wish: become a great hero admired throughout the martial world. His original cultivation could not accompany him, forcing him to begin again. 2 3

Personality

Lin Xiao is pragmatic, cautious, and highly conscious of risk. He recognizes traps and hidden dangers more readily than many of his peers, attempting to flee Tianxiang Tower before the conflict involving the Yin Yang Twin Evils escalates and refusing to join an unfamiliar Descender group pursuing the Thousand-Year Snow Ginseng. 10 33

He is ambitious but not reckless. He seeks power, martial arts manuals, and Potential Points with clear long-term goals: completing the native body’s final wish, strengthening his true body after returning through the Primordial Gate, and eventually paying off the Lin family debt through the Twin Wood Realm. 14 15 42

Although initially focused on survival and self-interest, Lin Xiao increasingly acts on behalf of others. After witnessing foreign invaders mistreat Han civilians, he intervenes violently, rescues captives, and leads them to establish a refuge in Zushan Mountain. 48 49

Yin Yang Twin Evils Incident

Lin Xiao’s caution proves justified when Yin Sha and Yang Sha reveal themselves as the Yin Yang Twin Evils at Tianxiang Tower, leading to the deaths of Xu Bing, Xu Ji, and Ji Zitao. He later allies with Yin Sha, receives her cultivation, and helps kill Yang Sha. 10 12 13

Rise Within the Great River Gang

Snow Ginseng and Secluded Cultivation

Lin Xiao hunts bandits for Potential Points, fuses his Yin and Yang power, and travels beyond Shanhaiguan Pass after hearing of the Thousand-Year Snow Ginseng.
