"Here are your favorite desserts. Don't you want some?"
Raymond lightly tapped the edge of a plate with his spoon, producing a crisp sound.
In his view, when children got angry or sulked for no apparent reason, all it took was a slight distraction.
After all, Little Annie had started this sibling dispute. She was angry mainly because she had failed to gain the upper hand or get any advantage, and had instead been toyed with by Greya at the very end.
No one liked the feeling of frustration, especially children whose minds were still extremely immature.
When they could not gain an advantage in this sort of competition, their first reaction was often to use all kinds of little emotional outbursts to attract their parents' attention, then use that to make the adults step in and defend them.
Many parents failed to see through their children's little schemes. Whenever something happened, they blindly defended their kids, allowing the latter to constantly receive positive reinforcement and become increasingly spoiled little tyrants that no one dared provoke.
But how could such a simple scheme possibly fool Raymond, who had spent years navigating all manner of conspiracies and plots?
More precisely, he could immediately discern what his daughter was thinking and what she wanted to achieve from any action, gesture, or even glance.
That was why he would not offer her any comforting words at a time like this.
Quite the opposite!
Raymond preferred to let his daughter suffer a little in these sibling contests, so she would understand that she could not simply do whatever she wanted because of her great power.
At the very least, when facing peers with roughly equal strength, she needed to maintain basic politeness and respect.
