A reconnaissance helicopter flying in close was struck directly by a plasma pulse fired from Iron Man's armor. Its ammunition ignited instantly, followed by its fuel tank catching fire and exploding violently, turning it into a massive fireball in midair.

Normally, in a situation like this, the pilot and everyone else inside would have been killed by the shockwave and flying shrapnel the instant the explosion occurred. They would not even have felt the pain of being burned by the blazing heat.

But the people aboard this helicopter were clearly no ordinary humans.

Not only had they not died, terrifying red light poured from their entire bodies. The instant the aircraft plummeted toward the sea, they leaped out and landed inside a ruined villa, some of them still impaled with bullets and shrapnel.

Yet within mere seconds, all their wounds healed at a rate visible to the naked eye. The metal fragments and bullets melted under unbelievable heat, flowing down their skin and dripping onto the ground with hissing sounds.

Tony Stark was clearly startled by the sight as well and immediately retreated, opening up a safe distance.

On his scanner, every one of them radiated a blinding glow so red it was nearly white.

That meant their surface temperatures had already exceeded a thousand degrees Celsius, with certain areas reaching the horrifying temperature of three thousand degrees Celsius.

Iron Man was not even sure whether they were human.

After the Chitauri invasion, S.H.I.E.L.D. had declassified a great deal of top-secret intelligence on aliens for the Avengers. They had also learned scattered bits of information about the universe from Thor.

So they now knew that, besides the exposed Chitauri and Asgard, Earth was also home to alien races such as the Kree and Skrulls.
