Without a doubt, the Dark Elven Pantheon could not, strictly speaking, be considered a true "pantheon."
Other than Selvetarm, none of the other gods had any clear hierarchical relationship or oath with Lolth, the chief goddess. There was no cooperation or mutual benefit to speak of; every one of them wanted to kill her and take her place, pursuing fierce conflict and winner-takes-all outcomes.
So this so-called "pantheon" did not actually exist at all.
It was merely a category forcibly created by mortal scholars for convenience, grouping together gods whose primary followers were Drow.
But as time passed, so many mortals came to believe this that it in turn affected the gods. Thus, the gods of Faerûn also began treating the Drow deities led by Lolth as a broad collective.
Of course, this false title of pantheon benefited Lolth. It allowed her to suppress Vhaeraun, Eilistraee, and Kiaransalee in the name of the chief goddess while preventing other gods from interfering in the Dark Elven Pantheon's internal conflicts.
After all, for gods, casually interfering in another pantheon's competition and infighting was highly taboo.
Doing so not only involved tremendous risks, but could also invite collective condemnation or even hostility from other gods.
No pantheon was willing to see outsiders meddling in its internal affairs.
Thus, Lolth tacitly accepted the title of the Dark Elven Pantheon and publicly proclaimed herself the supreme chief goddess.
But now, as the conflict completely intensified and erupted, the truth behind this so-called pantheon was finally laid bare before everyone.
Around the enormous Sava Board, Lolth, Vhaeraun, Eilistraee, and Kiaransalee stood in a four-way standoff, controlling their pieces in a fierce contest of slaughter. With every turn, countless pieces vanished into thin air.
