Allen and Fairy Tail advanced their training and investigated the Dark Magic Group as Acnologia and other dragons emerged as threats. The arc ended with Kana and Mira escorting a caravan when a coordinated Dark Guild ambush began.

• Mira lost her training match to Urutia, but Allen and Urutia stabilized a second magic source and helped Fairy Tail’s senior mages acquire one.
• Gildarts returned injured after encountering Acnologia, while Allen linked the dragon’s awakening to suspicious activity involving the Dark Magic Group and Dark Guilds.
• The December ranking tournament ended with Kana beating Sorano after Mira defeated Yukino but lost to Sorano in the earlier challenges.
• Acnologia destroyed Ossar after the cultists opened the Gate of the Abyss, then pursued Hades and attacked the gathered cultists.
• Allen traveled to Elmina and fought Melkphobia before confronting Ignia, whose clash with Allen ended with Ignia grievously wounded in the sea.
• Fairy Tail’s S-Class Mages searched for Yaroc, and Ultear stopped his escape with Time Roar after he fought Ur and Erza.
• Yukino and Mira passed Allen’s exams, then Mira joined Kana on an escort mission for the Heartfilia Trading Company.
• Kana and Mira were ambushed at sea by Serpent’s Lair and other Dark Guilds, while Kana learned that more groups had been sent to attack Fairy Tail elsewhere.

Allen confronted Jose’s ambush, helped end the Ankhseram God’s curse, and joined Fairy Tail in rebuilding Ishgar. The story left off during the S-Class promotion exam on Tenrou Island, with Kana and Yukino battling for a place in the next stage.

• Allen traced a recovered communicator to the Tower of Paradise, where Jellal broke its barrier and the group discovered Jose Porla waiting with Dark Guild forces.
• Allen defeated Jose and his forces, then presented evidence to the Council and secured Phantom Lord’s disbandment and an investigation into its allies.
• Allen, Gildarts, Mavis, and August confronted Zeref’s curse on Tenrou Island, where Allen severed its link and fought the Ankhseram God with the Royal Knights’ power.
• Allen helped rescue survivors and rebuild Ishgar, then returned to Fairy Tail as Makarov announced an S-Class promotion exam on Tenrou Island.
• Allen welcomed Mystogan, who revealed that he came from Edolas and needed help with the Anima problem, then brought him along to the island.
• Allen oversaw the exam, where Kana lost to Laxus, Sorano qualified after facing Ultear, Yukino earned Jellal’s approval despite losing, and Erza defeated Mira.
• After Natsu tried to climb the Fairy Tree, Allen sent him back to camp and assigned the boys extra training, while Erza led Lucy, Wendy, and Lisanna in their own training.
• Allen began the pair battles, and Kana slowed Yukino’s Armor Evolution before Yukino completed the fusion and attacked her.

Kana defeated Yukino, Mira saved Sorano from the Ankhseram God’s corruption, and Lucy began learning Astral Scroll History. After New Year, Laxus defeated Serena, while Irene reconciled with Erza and began the process of becoming human again.

• Kana used Crush Fountain and Ura Hades to defeat Yukino, then promised they would fight again after growing stronger.
• Mira defeated Zombie Tyrannomon and used her Holy Magic Power to restore Sorano and Tyrannomon, while Allen explained how the Ankhseram God had corrupted Tyrannomon.
• After the guild returned from Tenrou Island, Lucy struggled to learn Astral Scroll History, and Layla taught her about its requirements and gave her the Zodiac Spirit Keys.
• Fairy Tail celebrated the end of X779 together, and Zeref arrived in Magnolia with Mavis, their child, and Irene to announce an alliance with Albares.
• Laxus defeated Serena after overcoming his eight Dragon Slayer Magic Crystals, and Allen warned Serena that he would be killed if he returned without changing his ways.
• Irene told Erza why she had left her, and Erza embraced her after calling her mother.
• Lord Dragon Emperor extracted Irene’s Dragon Energy and Dragon Seed to create a Digital Core, and Irene later said she felt human again.

Allen strengthened Fairy Tail through Dragon Cores, trials, and new magic while uncovering the Ankhseram God’s influence and preparing the guild for Acnologia’s awakening. The arc ended with several young mages unlocking Second Magic Sources and the Dragon Slayers’ Dragon Seeds becoming Digi-Eggs.

• Allen implanted the Dragon Type Digital Core in Erza, making her a Holy Knight Digimon and a reserve member of the Royal Knights.
• The Dragon Kings revealed why they had sent the Dragon Slayers into the future, and Allen warned that the Ankhseram God might be upgrading Acnologia.
• Natsu, Gajeel, Gray, and Lyon completed Allen’s graduation challenges, then helped defeat a Magic Beast that Allen identified as carrying the Ankhseram God’s power.
• Fairy Tail members trained in the Trial Magic Circle, while Allen put them through Lord Dragon Emperor’s Dragon’s Roar pressure test.
• Anna explained the Dragon King Festival and the Dragon Kings’ conflict with the Ankhseram God, and Allen required guild members to complete quests before using the Trial Magic Circle.
• Lucy and Layla developed Psychic Power through their trials, and Layla agreed to give Allen sixty percent of the Heartfilia trading company’s shares.
• After Acnologia awakened, Allen organized patrols and preparations for war, then approved Second Magic Sources for Natsu, Gajeel, Wendy, Rogue, Sting, Lucy, Gray, and Lyon.
