Background / History

Origins and the Golden Iron Triangle

Yu Xiaogang was born to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan as Yu Yuanzhen’s legitimate son. His intended Golden Sacred Dragon Martial Soul suffered a malignant mutation because of his frail body, becoming Luo Sanpao; its dragon bloodline nevertheless remained intact. 131 200

He traveled the Spirit Master World with Flender and Liu Erlong as the Golden Iron Triangle. He later left the clan and refused to return until he had proven himself, fearing further ridicule for his perceived failures. 40 74

Yu Xiaogang also studied at Spirit Hall more than twenty years earlier, where he was romantically involved with Bibi Dong. He was eventually driven out, an outcome he later bitterly attributed to his misfortune. 141 197

Shrek Academy

Yu Xiaogang arrived in Suotuo City to check on his disciple Tang San and reunited with Flender. Flender assigned him responsibility for the students’ future training at Shrek Academy. 40 44

He immediately clashed with Zhao Wuji over Tang San’s third spirit ring, criticizing him for allowing Tang San to absorb the Thousand-Year Thorn Demon Vine rather than the Man Faced Demon Spider Xiaogang had planned for. 41

After learning of Shen Tianchen’s ability, Yu Xiaogang sought to accept him as a second disciple and had Tang San arrange their meeting. Shen Tianchen rejected the offer and left, offended by Xiaogang’s manner. 41 42 43

Yu Xiaogang guided Shrek’s tournament strategy, stressing that Tang San must not use hidden weapons and that the team should conceal its strongest advantages during the preliminary stage. 153

Spirit City Incident and Expulsion

After Tang San began cultivating his Clear Sky Hammer, Yu Xiaogang pursued the cultivation method for Twin Martial Souls. With Tang Hao’s approval, he secretly departed for Spirit City to seek the method from Bibi Dong. 186 190

Spirit Hall recognized his purpose and exposed Tang San’s identity as Tang Hao’s son. Yu Xiaogang was accused of stealing a Papal Edict and impersonating a Spirit Hall elder, then imprisoned in the Heavenly Prison. 197 198 199

Under torture, he disclosed Tang Hao’s involvement in the Papal Edict incident. The scandal damaged the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan’s reputation, prompting its elders to remove his name from the family tree. 201 200
