After handing command over to Santos, Victor left early in the morning with his cavalry guards and headed for Stream Territory.

Victor did not use the railway for any part of the journey. Instead, he rode straight there, taking a highway that led directly from the northwestern border region to Stream Territory.

These highways had all been built by the authorities of Two Rivers County. They were mainly made of rammed earth, with smooth surfaces, while some stretches had been paved with stone bricks and cement. They were ideal for horses and carriages, and armies could march along them at great speed as well.

Spring had only just brought its warmth and blooming flowers, and large numbers of merchant caravans had yet to take to the roads, leaving the route clear all the way.

Compared with the railway, which required a detour through the Iron Mine and Red Soil Town, taking this road directly shortened the journey and was more efficient.

Victor was also inspecting the road's current condition along the way. After all, winter had just passed, and some damage to the roads was inevitable.

Fortunately, none of the stretches he traveled along had any problems, and the road was more than adequate for a large army to march down.

When the time came, Alex and the nobles of the Northern Alliance Army would take trains on the temporary line, while the bulk of the Northern Alliance Army would travel along this road. After all, the temporary railway lacked the capacity to transport troops. For a large army on the march, these highways were still more convenient and faster.

Thanks to the well-developed infrastructure of Two Rivers County, even an overland march would not be much slower and would not affect the battles to come at all.
