There were not many of these terrifying soldiers, but even a hundred or so caused serious trouble for the defenders on this stretch of Stone Mountain City's walls when they attacked alongside the rest of the siege force.

When the first group climbed onto the wall, the defenders discovered to their shock that their weapons had no effect on the heavily armored soldiers.

Their armor was tougher than the defenders had imagined. Spears and swords could not pierce it. Even when a squad of pikemen thrust at one soldier together, they only managed to make him stagger.

The defenders had assumed that soldiers who climbed the wall barehanded would have no weapons and pose little threat once they reached the top.

But even a wooden stick became a deadly weapon in their hands. Each possessed enormous strength; a single punch could send a defender flying.

Once they gained a foothold, the entire wall fell into chaos.

The defenders could not stand against such terrifying enemies and steadily gave ground. Then other assault troops climbed up under the armored soldiers' protection and joined the fight, sending the battle into a downward spiral.

The defenders on that section of wall were routed and forced to retreat. The Vela Army immediately raised its flags, lit torches, and signaled the forces below.

Watching from a distance, Alex lowered his telescope when he saw the signal. "I never thought Victor's research would really succeed. Those soldiers are terrifying beyond belief."
