Just as the two spoke in low voices, Karl's gaze suddenly locked onto a spot slightly north of the battlefield's center—the area around Village No. 3, where the fighting was fiercest. He said quietly but distinctly, "They're coming."
Brendan immediately raised his telescope. Behind Sauron's central army, a sizable infantry force of some two to three thousand men was breaking away from the main formation under the guidance of its banners and moving swiftly toward Village No. 3 in the center. Judging by the banners, it appeared to be a detachment of Sauron's Fire Shooter Army.
"Harald is reinforcing the center!" Brendan's tone sharpened. "Is he planning to concentrate his strength, seize Village No. 3 completely, then tear open a gap in the middle and drive straight into our army's belly?"
"Not necessarily the main attack, but it's absolutely an important move." Calculation glimmered in Karl's eyes. "Village No. 3 sits at the heart of the battlefield. Whoever controls it completely holds the initiative in the center—they can threaten the enemy's flanks or use it as a springboard for an attack. Harald isn't content with a stalemate in the center. He wants to 'add fuel to the fire' here too."
After a brief moment of thought, Karl immediately gave his orders. "Send word to the Seventh Battalion on the right wing. Pull out their two most intact musket companies and reinforce our defenders at Village No. 3 at once! Tell Village No. 3's commander to hold the positions they have, not yielding an inch! Harald wants to stoke the fire? Then we'll pour in some oil and see whose blaze burns hotter and fiercer!"
The orders were swiftly relayed once more. Carnford's adjustments were equally rapid, displaying remarkable command efficiency and the troops' resilience.
Almost at the same time, the
