Background

Mei is the only daughter of Raiden Ryoma, president of ME Company. Her mother died of cancer in 1999, and Mei was kidnapped by terrorists in 2004; after being rescued, she spent three years recovering from the resulting trauma at an ME Company private facility. 26

Raised with exceptional education and social training, Mei became known at Senba Academy as “Queen Raiden.” Her sheltered life collapsed when ME Company became entangled in an economic-fraud scandal, Ryoma was removed as president and imprisoned, and the people around Mei revealed that their interest had been in her status rather than her. Mei became reclusive, distrustful, and increasingly disillusioned with the world. 14 26

Dong Moxuan entered her life shortly before the Honkai outbreak, claiming to be Ryoma’s friend. Mei initially treated him with skepticism, demanded proof of his connection to her father, and resisted his attempt to stay in her home.
