Shimizu was Chiyo's apprentice. Though it was still unclear what set him apart, that status alone had caught Rasa's attention.
For Chiyo's sake, Rasa had to show Shimizu some respect as well.
Karura was a young woman skilled at easing the atmosphere, and Chiyo also intended for Shimizu to build more connections among Sunagakure's younger generation. Thus, even without wine and with only simple dishes on the table, the mood was quite pleasant.
After some small talk, Chiyo set down her chopsticks and asked Rasa:
"This old woman recalls that you had been assisting Third Lord on the front toward the Land of Fire. How did you happen to end up here?"
"It was quite a coincidence, actually."
Karura picked up the conversation.
"Some time ago, Konoha White Fang was ambushed and injured by Third Lord and Jonin Ishido at the border while rescuing a Konoha squad. His strength was impaired, so the Third intensified his offensive, forcing Hatake Sakumo to take the field despite his injuries."
The moment White Fang was mentioned, Chiyo's expression changed.
"And then? What happened to that White Fang bastard?"
"He suffered even graver injuries. Last month, Rasa learned Third Lord's Magnet Release but kept it secret while he hurried to master it. In the end, he and I launched a surprise attack while Hatake Sakumo was locked in fierce battle with Third Lord. Unfortunately, we failed to kill him."
"Hmph, that is rather regrettable. But if he died just like that, this old woman still wouldn't be satisfied. I must personally take that bastard's life."
Chiyo said angrily.
"Teacher, don't be angry. You won't need to do it yourself. Once I become as strong as you, I'll chop off White Fang's head and make a chamber pot out of it for you and Sasori."
