Background / History

Sasori designed the construct as the Sunagakure No. 1 Large War Puppet, intending it to defeat even a half-strength First Hokage. Shimizu approved building one prototype first, with later machines intended for Chiyo and Ebizo after the design had been refined. 484

The completed puppet was housed at a high-security Puppet Force facility behind a sealing barrier. Sasori named it Sasori of the Red Sands, repurposing his own title for the red-haired, Sunagakure-born scorpion machine. 497

Shimizu tested the puppet in the Mirror Dimension after Sasori requested a real assessment of its combat capability. Despite its heavy armament and Sasori's supporting puppets, Shimizu overwhelmed it through physical combat alone, heavily damaging the machine and exposing the danger posed by enemies capable of reaching its cockpit. 498 499

After accepting the Scorching Nuclear Core, Sasori led Sunagakure's force against Konoha with the puppet as his primary weapon. It was considered sufficient to suppress an Impure World Reincarnation Senju Hashirama restored to a little over forty percent of his original strength. 501

Appearance

Sasori of the Red Sands is a colossal metallic scorpion puppet, nearly 200 meters tall and more than 800 meters long. Sasori operates it from a cockpit in its head. 497 498
