I was stunned. Angels were actually such terrifying creatures that they could retain their body heat for a thousand years after death. Yet such powerful creatures ultimately remained nothing more than test subjects in the hands of the Celestials.
"Speaking of which, these angels are very popular. Many Celestials are willing to buy them. They can be used to warm beds or guard doors. They're very useful things." Zhang Fan said.
"I never thought you could go this far." I exclaimed.
"This is nothing. Whether dragons or phoenixes, they're merely our food. There's nothing unusual about them." Zhang Fan said.
"Since you're a Celestial, such a wonderful being, why did you still choose to fall?" I asked curiously.
"For more important reasons—and also to let us return to our original purpose." Zhang Fan said.
"Our original purpose." I narrowed my eyes, completely speechless.
"Yes, our original purpose. It's something that everyone in this world, whether god or human, needs to grasp." Zhang Fan said.
I looked around. This laboratory contained enormous, incredibly precise-looking machines, along with huge containers. At that moment, the organs of various living creatures were soaking inside them. In one of them was a giant's head, its skull opened to reveal the brain inside.
In another was a bright-red heart covered in tubes. There were also strange creatures that looked as if they had been pieced together from different parts of various living beings. They were submerged in the liquid within the containers, with thick tubes thrust into their bodies and connected to the surrounding instruments. The whole place was filled with indescribable eeriness, misery, and terror.
