"Why did you go to the abandoned school?" Li Tongtian asked.
"This... I can't say," Wang Qunze said hesitantly.
"Oh? Very well." I waved my hand, and two big men began beating him, making Wang Qunze cry out in pain. Yet, he remained unyielding, refusing to speak no matter what.
Li Tongtian and I exchanged a look, both surprised and intrigued.
Wang Qunze, so timid, yet unwilling to speak – this must be a huge secret.
"It seems you really want to die," I said, looking at him.
"So what? I'm not afraid! Kill me if you can!" Wang Qunze glared at me, his demeanor suddenly hardened.
"Since you insist, I find it hard to refuse. I'll kill you then." I waved my hand, my face indifferent. "Beat him to death, and drag his body out to feed the dogs!"
Several big men immediately approached with great cleavers, their faces wearing sinister grins.
Wang Qunze trembled all over but remained silent. However, as the great cleavers drew closer to his neck, he finally broke. "I'll talk, just don't hit me anymore. You're killing me."
"Hmph, why put yourself through this? If you had spoken earlier, you wouldn't have suffered," I said dismissively, my gaze icy.
"I'll tell you, but you have to believe me after I'm done," Wang Qunze said, looking at me with dejection.
"Go ahead," I said, sitting on the sofa and looking at him.
Li Tongtian waved his hand, and everyone else left, leaving only the two of us. Wang Qunze looked at us before revealing a secret hidden deep within his heart.
It happened three months ago. He had a girlfriend, and they were deeply in love, as one might expect.
Being young, they craved excitement. So, they decided to visit the abandoned school.
When they arrived, the main gate was shut tight, but Wang Qunze and his girlfriend found a way in.
They wandered around, enjoying the thrill of exploration. By chance, they ended up in the basement and discovered a coffin.
Wang Qunze was a bit scared, but his girlfriend was curious and urged him to open the coffin.
Wang Qunze tried every way he could to lift the lid. What he saw next made him turn pale with shock. He saw a girl, an incredibly beautiful schoolgirl lying in the coffin. She was spotless, not at all like a dead person.
She was bound with ink threads, covered in talismans, wore bracelets on her hands, and had a luminous pearl in her mouth.
Seeing this, Wang Qunze was terrified. But his girlfriend, excited by the jewelry, couldn't resist reaching out.
Wang Qunze's girlfriend reached out to take the luminous pearl. But the moment she touched it, she went mad, blood gushing from all seven orifices, and died right before his eyes.
At this point, Wang Qunze's face was filled with terror, sweat streaming down his face.
Hearing this, I looked at him and asked, "So, after your girlfriend died, you took out the luminous pearl?"
"That's not it," Wang Qunze said, his eyes filled with fear. "What happened next was truly beyond anyone's imagination. I don't know how to explain it."
"Tell us, the lives of many depend on this," Li Tongtian said.
"Seeing my girlfriend dead, I immediately called my friends to come over. They arrived quickly. They were also shocked to see my girlfriend dead. But when they saw the female corpse in the coffin, they became confused."
"They thought everything on the female corpse was treasure. If they took it out, they'd be rich."
"So I warned them that touching those things would lead to death, but they didn't believe me."
"Then another person touched the 'treasure' and quickly died. Several people died in succession. I was going crazy. And the last person, as if driven mad, also rushed forward to meet his death."

"It was as if the female corpse had some kind of magic, drawing them to their deaths one by one. Four people died right in front of me."
"At this point, I was completely desperate and ran away like a madman. I don't know what happened after that."
Wang Qunze spoke, his face filled with horror.
"How is that possible?" I was stunned, unable to react for a long time.
"This is truly bizarre," Li Tongtian said, looking at me. "Let's not even talk about so many deaths. If the female corpse had the power to bewitch people, why did everyone else die except Wang Qunze?"
"Isn't that a bit strange? Perhaps there was some mistake in the middle."
"I don't know about that either," Wang Qunze said nervously, trying to explain. "I don't know why I survived, but this matter has nothing to do with me. I didn't release that female corpse."
"If not him, then who?" I looked at him sharply, trying to find any clues. But after thinking for a long time, I couldn't figure out who did it.
Li Tongtian, however, suspected Wang Qunze greatly, believing he might have intentionally released the female corpse.
I also thought it was possible, so I had him beaten again. But even though Wang Qunze cried and begged, he didn't confess. This left me helpless.
I decided to take him to Master Du Mo, hoping he could tell us the truth.
When we brought him to the abandoned school, Master Du Mo was wandering the grounds with his khakkhara.
Seeing us bring Wang Qunze over, he merely glanced indifferently before looking away. "This matter has nothing to do with him. He's just an ordinary person. He couldn't possibly have released her."
"But this matter clearly involves him," I asked in surprise.
"Let him go, and I'll explain," Master Du Mo said.
Chapter 14: A Place of Great Ill Fortune
Though helpless, we let the bruised and battered Wang Qunze go. He didn't have time to think and ran off. I waved my hand, and the people behind me dispersed.
The entire abandoned school was left with only the three of us. Master Du Mo looked at us deeply before saying, "I see no trace of anything strange on Wang Qunze. He is simply an ordinary person."
