Chapter 718: Death Game

"Forget it. Don't worry about those things anymore. Let's go take a look at those stairs." As I said this, I turned my gaze toward the staircase.

All the staircases around us had twelve steps. None had thirteen.

I looked through them one by one, but there was still no thirteenth step. Just then, Liu Ling'er said, "Could the timing be wrong? We'll know if we wait a little longer."

"That's possible." I nodded and waited in silence.

We waited for a while. Then, at last, something happened. The staircase in front of us suddenly gained an extra step.

Liu Ling'er's whole body trembled. In a low voice, she said, "Am I seeing things? Did the staircase in front of us just gain another step?"

I looked at the staircase before me. This was the staircase on the top floor. Looking at it made my blood run cold.

I remained calm. After all, I had seen far too many terrifying things. Instead, I said excitedly, "Looks like this is the thirteenth step—the staircase that didn't exist, but suddenly appeared."

"Let's go take a look. Maybe we'll discover something."

With that, my figure flashed as I prepared to be the first to step onto it. But Bai Xue grabbed my arm and anxiously looked at me. "No, it's too dangerous. Let me go first."

"There's no need." I stepped forward directly and planted both feet on that step.

Nothing happened. I looked around. It was still the school building I was in, the same surroundings I had seen, and the same two people standing beside me.

"Looks like nothing strange happened." I looked at Liu Ling'er and Bai Xue in front of me as I spoke.

But they suddenly lowered their heads and fell silent.

"What's wrong?" I asked curiously as
