"You'll find out sooner or later." After saying that, the man fell silent.
"Forget it. It doesn't matter." I shook my head, my expression calm.
This man had helped me kill the Heavenly Venerable, then stayed inside my body ever since. Even after I encountered so many disasters, he had never intervened. Yet now he had acted, seemingly to protect a secret.
But none of that mattered. I didn't think he would harm me, much less seize my body. Otherwise, he would have done so long ago. I couldn't possibly have survived until now.
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out from the sky: "Hubby!"
I looked up and saw Bai Xue transform into a little white fox before jumping down from the severed thirteenth floor.
I reached out and caught her, then smiled at her. "You little rascal. You're really mischievous."
"Hubby, you've recovered? You looked really scary just now," Bai Xue said.
I was just about to explain when I suddenly heard another voice: "Brother, I jumped down too. Remember to catch me."
I looked up and saw Huodou leap straight down.
Seeing such a huge black dog jump down, I naturally dodged to the side. Huodou's body slammed heavily into the ground, its head boring into the dirt.
"Ow! Why didn't you catch me?" Huodou said.
I sneered and walked over, holding Demon Blade Muramasa against its neck. "You actually dared to scheme against me. Good thing I saw through it. If I'd known, I would've killed you."
"Don't be like that. Aren't we safe now?" Huodou said.
I glanced at it, then suddenly smiled. "Come to think of it, you're a big black dog. I heard dog meat is very nourishing."
Huodou suddenly leaped up and shouted at me, "I told you, I'm not a dog!
