"--Flame Angel?"
Sherlock came to his senses.
Iver hadn't mentioned the dwarves, and Sherlock had almost forgotten about them. Although there were scattered dwarves in places like Avalon and Iris, most of them were still in the Northern Mountains, shutting themselves off from the world while enduring the bitter winds. Only the Frost Giants would accompany them in mining.
The dwarves had severed their ties with the world for several centuries. By now, no one knew what they were making.
Sherlock had only learned from Iver that... they seemed to be carrying out an "Artificial Pillar God" project. They wanted to elevate the Flame Angel they worshiped to the position of a Pillar God.
"--In that case, would they bring the Flame Angel down?"
Sherlock furrowed his brows. "That doesn't make sense. Such an abnormal, large-scale fall of Angels clearly signifies that a major event has occurred... Chaos in the world is most likely to trigger a change in Pillar Gods. If I were a dwarf, I would try even harder to protect the Flame Angel under these circumstances."
"That assumes the dwarves are as clever as you."
Iver shook his head. "As one of the very few--or rather, the only--Angels of the Dedication Path who doesn't live together with the Candle Heaven Holder, the Flame Angel actually doesn't agree with the theory of dedication..."
He told Sherlock the hidden truth about the Angels and Pillar Gods.
Of course, this wasn't exactly a secret... The Flame Angel herself even respected the Candle Heaven Holder greatly. It was merely a disagreement in their understanding of the Source River.
The chant used to call upon the Flame Angel was "Angel of Tempered Iron and Burning Steel, Angel of Crucibles and Furnaces." It didn't mention "for the sake of others" in the slightest.
