Great Sin Card: Night Demon (Two-in-One)
As Iver chanted, the space around him fell into complete silence in an instant.
Like vibrant colors painted with oil paint, the contrast of Iver's entire being suddenly increased dramatically, making him appear bright and striking.
The next moment, a bright red color appeared on Iver's right neck, left chest, and abdomen.
It wasn't the dark red of blood... it was more like tomato sauce, or liquid fire.
In an instant, Iver shattered, and the art style and color scheme returned to normal. The sound returned as well.
His body was now covered with shallow cracks, on the verge of splitting, and an ethereal, ethereal aura emanated from the Twin Mirrors, seeping from his wounds. The cracks all over his body were permeated with white light.
Those three wounds are like three doors.
Like three moons in different phases, each exuding clear moonlight as it revolves.
The dark and cold aura belonging to the Fallen Angel seeped in from below Iver, constantly intertwining with the moonlight and filling the illusory purple card outline.
The dark purple auras intertwined, constantly adjusting, condensing, and gathering.
Iver softly called out the name of the Night Demon: "Night Demon... Viennes, my Little Crow."
"I call your name now, Brand of Jealousy."
"From this day forward, my life is your life, my destiny is your destiny..."
"—Obey me, Phantom Demon of the Path of Transcendence!"
In his Child of the Moon form Iver's voice was soft and husky, like a whisper in the night.
Then, Iver and the Night Demon froze simultaneously. The surroundings returned to silence and gradually darkened, only the colors of Iver and the Night Demon becoming clear and vibrant. Like jewels reflected in moonlight beneath a pitch-black night sky.
Iver's pupils were a similar crimson to Night Demon's. And the instant their eyes met, a black, illusory chain emerged from Iver's heart and pierced Night Demon's body.
It was a chain constructed from Iver's "soul" and "fate".
It wasn't anything tough. Quite the opposite... it was an extremely fragile chain that needed to be handled with care.
If the Night Demon struggles, simply breaking this chain would be enough to severely injure Iver instantly.
But she did not resist at all. Instead, she stood still and allowed Iver to connect with her soul and resonate with her.
In an instant, everything went black before Iver's eyes, and he plummeted into the void of deep space.
When Iver opened his eyes again, he found himself on the familiar yet unfamiliar streets of the Empire.
But the person standing on the street was not the Bayard that Iver knew, but a dark-haired girl who was even younger Yulia.
A young girl walked slowly alone in the rain. Her wet eyes were clear and soft, shivering like an abandoned puppy. She wore a thin but delicate white dress and a wide-brimmed straw hat on her head. She stretched out her hands to press down on her straw hat, but her long hair was still soaked by the rain.
People passing by would avoid Bayard upon seeing him.
She walked forward aimlessly, the people much taller than her forming two human walls that blocked out the world in the misty rain. The street seemed endless, with no end in sight. The figures on both sides seemed to stretch to the edge of the world, and no matter how she looked up, she couldn't see the end.
The only sound in the world was the rain; no one spoke to her.
As the girl walked on, she transformed into a refined and elegant young lady with a cool demeanor, while the rain continued to pour outside. The streets on both sides of the road had subtly changed.
She wore a long dress, with servants holding umbrellas behind her. She continued walking among the crowd, which still parted to the left and right, forming two human walls.
But as she walked down the street, no one responded to her.
She walked on, then stopped, transforming into the Child of the Moon with crimson pupils, and the servants behind her vanished. She placed her slender, pale fingers to her lips, remaining silent.
Before anyone knew it, the surrounding rain had turned into blood rain. The once densely packed streets gradually dwindled, and the shops on both sides of the street became dilapidated.
Just then, a shadow suddenly rushed out from behind her, grabbed her, and pulled her forward.
The shadow, like her own, had been corrupted by the shadows, two-thirds of it becoming a pitch-black outline. Only one eye remained on her once fair face. The other eye had transformed into a dangerous red light gleaming within the dark shadows.
That was another version of herself! She staggered forward, following the rapidly moving shadows, but a rare smile appeared on her face.
She chatted happily with the other person... but the shadow walked faster and faster, and she gradually couldn't keep up. Then she smiled and chose to give up and let go of the other person's hand.
When Shadow suddenly felt a lightness in her hand and turned around, she had already turned into a pool of blood, melting into the rain of blood.
The two human walls had completely vanished. The world had become so peaceful.
The blood rain fell to the ground, and the Shadow Demon remained in a pose of looking back, bathed alone in the blood rain.
The streets were deserted; the once bustling streets were now nothing but ruins left after the war.
Pure smoke, rising like black dry ice, emanated from her body, and two streams of blood slid down her face. It was unclear whether it was tears or rain.
At that moment, she rubbed her eyes, looked up at the moonless night sky, and shielded her eyes with her hand.
She opened her mouth, but ultimately said nothing.
Because it's completely unnecessary.
She was all alone. No one cared about her existence.
What's more tragic than rage is that even rage turns to nothingness.
Just then, someone gently patted her shoulder.
The Shadow Demon turned around, half wary and half expectant, and saw the white-robed priest holding a black umbrella.
Iver's robe was soaked with blood, like waves. The shadow cast by the umbrella only revealed half of his chin.
You could see the corners of his mouth slightly upturned. He lowered his head and chuckled softly, his lips moving slightly as he spoke, moving his umbrella forward a little bit.
—That's a very small amount.
Without getting wet in the rain, I made room for a small portion of the space.
When Shadow Fiend turned around, she quickly began to revert to her previous appearance.
Shadow Fiend, Child of the Moon, Lady, Little Girl...
Finally, she transformed back into the trembling girl in the white dress, turned around, and hugged Iver tightly.
Iver did not reach out to hug her back, but lowered his gaze, looking compassionate and gentle.
"Viennes, my Little Crow."
Iver's voice rang out clearly for the first time from that Blood Night.
The next moment, it was as if a red curtain had been drawn back up.
The whole world was submerged in the Blood Sea.
When Iver awoke again, he found himself in a labyrinth of mirrors.
He was surrounded by countless shattered mirrors, each containing a fragment of Viennes, or rather, Bayard, from different periods.
They all looked at Iver, their smiles varying in degree but all genuine.
Iver raised his hand.
It is not stretched forward, but raised high.
A massive, horizontal black magic circle instantly formed from the earth and rapidly rose upwards.
Under the projection of the magic circle, the illusory images in the mirrors vanished instantly.
The magic circle flew rapidly into the sky, where a raven pattern appeared.
A jet-black circular mark was branded onto the central circle, covering the crow.
In an instant, the magic array began to collapse from the outermost circle.
It shrank layer by layer until only the black ring in the middle, about the height of a person, remained.
The crow pattern inside fluttered its wings slightly, raised its head, and let out a silent yet excited cry.
When Iver opened his eyes again, he found that the Night Demon had disappeared without a trace.
The raven ring, now only a palm's diameter in diameter, appeared before Iver, level with the ground.
Two brand-new Tarot Card were slowly imprinted from the void, one above the other, appearing on the top and bottom of the ring.
A jet-black electric light link connects the two cards, as if some kind of magnetic force is drawing them closer together.
The original Lovers card depicts a naked man and woman gathered together under the guidance of an angel, with two trees symbolizing fertility and taboo behind them.
The newly created Lovers card depicts the Emperor and Empress approaching like puppets, manipulated by a wizard in white robes. The card's image is mirror-like yet inversely related. Countless overlapping doors open around them, and behind them shines a path of light.
The Devil card originally depicted a horned, red-skinned demon seated on a throne. It looked at the slaves bound by chains and controlled by it, a cruel smile on its face. And those slaves had already grown the symbols of the devil—horns and tails.
The newly born Devil card is merely a three-eyed white goat standing atop a gigantic phallus. Its spiraling horns resemble two DNA strands, pointing towards the sky.
Finally, as the two cards gradually formed and became clearer, they slowly moved closer to the center.
The moment the two cards came together, they suddenly burst forth with a dazzling light.
It turned into a thin card, like black crystal.
The shape of a raven is outlined on the card in a deep crimson color, like blood.
Cold, cruel, and mysterious.
It spun around and soon obediently stopped in front of Iver.
Iver extended his right hand, gently tapped the card, and wrote his name.
Its attributes were immediately apparent.
[The Great Sin: Night Demon (Lover, Demon)]
[Level: 50]
[Path of Transcendence, Attribute: Dark]
Sixth Level, Greater Phantom Demon.
A truly destructive force—a powerful ally in defeating the Fallen Angel! Iver took a deep breath, suppressing his excitement, and examined the card's attributes.
The Great Sin Card cannot be "burned" to restore its usage count, but each side can be used once per day.
Generally speaking, the upright position is close to the effect of a spell; while the reversed position is like summoning the real thing.
As expected, the card's effect is indeed a spell effect—
[Summon · Nightmare Mirror]
[Required: Dark 5]
[Immediate, contactless, and effective immediately]
[Effect: Summons the power of the Night Demon to erode the target mirror, creating a mirror image of itself; the mirror image can cast spells, has its own mana pool, but cannot make sound, move, use items, or deal any type of damage; the mirror image lasts for one minute, and when it is actively broken or destroyed by another, it will deal Shadow/Filthy/Curse damage to surrounding enemies or to the destroyer. The damage can be switched automatically, and by default it will deal the type of damage with the lowest resistance of the target.]
[Reversed Summon · Night Demon]
[Required: Dark 5]
[Maintain: Dark 5 * Daily]
[Action, Summon]
[Effect: Summons the Beast of Jealousy, Night Demon, to fight for you. Night Demon is considered a summoned creature. Outside of combat, the Beast of Jealousy, Night Demon, can transform into Night Raven and enter a follow state. Only one Great Sin Beast can exist at a time.]
Like other cards of the Great Sin, it costs a fixed five mana.
The reversed effect is a normal summoning, just like calling for Little Butterfly.
As for the positive positioning effect... Iver glanced at it briefly and it seemed rather interesting.
If Iver understands correctly, this skill means that it can create a self-casting totem.
Although it can't "cause damage," it can heal! It can heal and also add buffs. It can also draw cards with Iver, which is practically a dual-track operation... except that the mirror image can't cause damage and breaks easily.
But it doesn't matter if it breaks at the slightest touch—because if someone attacks it and it breaks, then even if that enemy is far away from the mirror image, they will still suffer a counterattack!
If you don't interrupt, you can stand still and heal, dispel, or buff others; if you do interrupt, you will trigger a powerful adaptive counterattack!
Furthermore, judging from that "independent mana pool," it seems that mirror casting doesn't require Iver's own mana! It can also be actively triggered and detonated to cause area-of-effect damage!
"... This is a PVP skill."
Iver opened his eyes wide and sighed with satisfaction.
Unlike the Flame Butterfly provided by the Little Butterfly, which can be reused, it tends to produce extreme bursts.
Its only drawback is that the image cannot be moved.
Furthermore, if used well... for example, in conjunction with the "Shadow Cloak's" crowd control immunity and invisibility, it might even mislead enemies, making them think they've used teleportation. This could allow it to absorb damage and die in their place...
In any case, this spell's effect is an "instant" "non-action" spell. That is to say, Iver only needs a thought to make it take effect, without needing to point his finger at a mirror.
It just means the Little Butterfly will have to suffer a little.
Iver couldn't have both the travel-form Flame Butterfly and Night Raven follow him at the same time... He could only have one travel-form beast follow him.
Compared to Little Butterfly, Night Demon, whose combat power is already fully developed, is more suitable to follow.
Not to mention, Iver is currently lacking Shadow Fiend, a constant watchdog. Little Butterfly lacks vigilance, which Night Raven can fill.
Before summoning the Night Raven, Iver took out his Book of Law and sent the card into it.
The count of "[The Iver's Book of Law]" immediately jumped up two sections and reached (7/21).
The number of times Iver can "burn cards" has also been increased from once a day to twice a day.
Just then, the Book of Law suddenly underwent a strange change—
It suddenly burst forth with a magnificent radiance, and the extraordinary feature that was originally written as "Unlocked after logging in with seven Phantom Demon Card" was suddenly revealed.
[Exceptional Trait: At the cost of putting a currently logged-in, non-cooldown Phantom Demon Card into cooldown, the effect of Great Sin Card of the same attribute is enhanced.]
This is...
"Great Sin Enhancement!"
Iver's eyes widened, revealing a look of surprise.
—As expected of my own Book of Law, every single entry is top-notch! Update complete! At least I've finished writing the ritual. I feel like I'll have to take tomorrow off; my body can't take it anymore. I need to get back to a more regular schedule...
