After the whole class had finished introducing themselves, Iruka finally began the first official lesson.
"Today, we'll be learning the most fundamental knowledge for a ninja—Chakra extraction and application."
Iruka picked up a piece of chalk and drew a simple diagram on the blackboard. "Chakra is energy produced by the 130 trillion cells in the body, combining physical and spiritual energy. It is the foundation of our ninjutsu..."
Naruto rested his cheek on one hand as he listened to Iruka's lecture. He had learned this knowledge three years ago, but sitting in the classroom and reviewing it now gave him a strange sense of nostalgia.
After explaining Chakra and the methods of extracting it, Iruka began teaching hand seals.
Naruto thought hand seals were pretty cool. Unfortunately, later on, everyone basically just clapped their hands together and summoned whatever they wanted. This ritualistic method of forming seals had instead become something rare.
The latter half of the lesson shifted to the history of the Ninja World.
"Long ago, the Ninja World had no concept of ninja villages. Ninjas fought one another in the name of their clans, and their average lifespan was less than thirty years..."
When he spoke of Konoha's founding, Iruka only mentioned Hashirama Senju's achievements in pacifying the chaotic era and establishing Konoha. He did not mention a single word about the deeds of the other founder—Uchiha Madara.
After the history lesson ended, sunlight slanted through the windows and spilled across the desks. It was noon. Naruto eagerly opened his lunchbox, while Satsuki untied the carefully prepared lunch her mother had packed.
The two naturally began exchanging food. It had already become one of their usual routines.
At the other end of the classroom, several little boys huddled together and whispered, their eyes occasionally darting in this
