Moonlight spilled over a clearing in the forest like water. Menma stopped and looked around. The ground was open and the trees sparse—the perfect place nearby to settle a score.
He glanced at Shisui beside him. "It's up to you now. Don't move, and you'll be fine."
Shisui frowned slightly. He had a vague idea of what Menma intended—he was going to be bait. But he didn't understand what value he still had that could draw Danzo in.
With his right eye gone and his fighting strength greatly diminished, he should have been useless to that man...
As his thoughts churned, complicated emotions spread through Shisui. Menma was about to go after Danzo, yet the realization brought him neither the thrill of revenge nor the urge to stop him.
Danzo had stolen his eye and driven him to leap off a cliff, but Shisui felt no hatred. Only deep sorrow and disappointment.
