Chapter Eight: Honkai Beasts.
The urban district was huge. Separated from the others, they could not find the right way and could only slowly make their way through this city, where danger could lurk anywhere, searching for the correct route.
"Not a single person."
There were no passersby to ask for directions on the desolate streets. After walking for half an hour, they had not even seen any local forces.
"This battle looks like it has been going on for a long time."
There were plenty of residential buildings destroyed by bombardment, along with traces left behind by battle.
All these signs showed that fierce conflict had taken place in the area they were passing through.
They could even see some black bloodstains on the ground that had long since dried.
Whether it was the traces left by artillery fire or the bloodstains on the ground, everything made people feel uncomfortable.
"Kiana, someone is approaching."
The Nightingale's ear feathers twitched slightly as she anxiously called out to Kiana, who was walking ahead and observing her surroundings.
"Someone's coming?"
After receiving the warning, Kiana looked toward the road on the right. Only two breaths later, a Rebel Army soldier who had been frightened out of his wits and was fleeing in disarray appeared in their view.
The man nearly collapsed from exhaustion. When he saw people nearby, he called for help as though he had seized a lifeline. "H-Help!"
What was chasing him from behind?
That terrified appearance did not look like he had clashed with people and was being pursued by the enemy.
"Be careful."
Kiana cautiously took two steps forward, shielding The Nightingale behind her as she tried to approach and figure out what was happening.
"Help me, help me..."
The man charged toward them. Kiana kept her guard
